What kind of reader are you?
If you like beautiful prose even if there's a muddled story with incoherent plotting and poorly defined characters, you won't like my books. There are books like this out there getting 5-star reviews. I can't finish them.
If you like great stories, pacing, momentum, surprises, and clearly defined relatable characters and themes, even if the prose is just average - you WILL like my books.
I don't care about prose.
I care about story. Story is king. Great stories need great characters.
Prose is window dressing.

I showed my kids a silent film yesterday. And... they loved it.
The General, with Buster Keaton, from 1926 I believe. What a fantastic movie. Hilarious at times, super impressive stunt and physical performance work, great story, big production value.

Well-defined distinct characters, building thrills, unexpected twists, and a shocking ending.
If you like that in your stories, you'll enjoy this. It starts off a bit 'normal'. But once you pass chapter 5, you won't want to put it down. More in replies.

I climbed 101 flights of stairs at the gym yesterday in 18:33 as part of a 9/11 honoring campaign.
Of course, that was without any firefighting equipment, and I nearly fainted afterward.

I finally, for the first time in my life, did something useful with AI.
I used it to write a 90-day notice to vacate to get someone out of my house who doesn't belong there anymore.
Wrote, printed, signed, and delivered in one day.
But I still hate AI.
