drag to reorder tabs is coming to @paper desktop soon. here's some tips if you were to implement this yourself 🧑‍🍳 ⏲️ drag & drop isn't needed for the initial paint, so it shouldn't be on the critical path. this includes both executing code, and downloading the bundle! ⚛️ view bindings (like for react) are a footgun. apply the drag and drop in an effect (or equivalent) with vanilla apis which ensures it's off the critical path. 👪 personal preference, but don't make dnd behaviour bleed throughout your components. similar to layout, the parent component dictates the logic / loading orchestration. enable behaviour through child refs in the parent! ✨ have fun! dial it in for how it feels to drag & drop. I gave extra care to bring some physicality like having drops take longer the further away from the drop target they were (and shorter when closer!).
