I mean, all the advertisements I saw for it gave me no indictation of what the movie was about, only some action scenes with F-35s and Tom Cruise appearing on scene. I get the feeling I didn't miss much.

The PQ are free to take a principled stand against their head of state by refusing to take their seats rather than swear the oath, as many Sinn Fein MPs did in Westminster.

His Majesty remains undefeated! "O Lord our God arise, Scatter his enemies, And make them fall. Confound their politics, Frustrate their knavish tricks, On thee our hopes we fix. God save us all!"

Matt Jeneroux didn’t just support Bill C-218, he formally seconded it as a Conservative. Today, as a Liberal MP, he voted against the very bill he once put his name behind. So gross.

The cherry on top of all this is that much of it is written in English.

French settlers were very much not the only ones living in what is now Canada at the time. There was a small urban cadre of Anglos in Quebec and the Maritimes were already dominated by Englishmen since the Acadian deportations.

Early America was anti-Catholic, and opposed the Quebec Act, which among other things, guaranteed free practice of Catholicism, the majority religion in QC. As the French settlers were the only ones living in Canada at the time, they had no appetite to join the Revolution.
Canada has no good reason to exist. By all accounts, the northern colonies should’ve been part of the Union from the beginning. But we have to live with that mistake of history, and Canada is undeniably its own country now.

When Anglo settlers starting arriving, they were United Empire Loyalists, those who did not support the American Revolution. Considering the treatment Loyalists would receive during the American Revolution, it is no surprise they did not wish to join the Union, either.

At the time, Canadians did not see America as a beacon of liberty or hope, but as a threat to their way of life. To say that the nation they built from that has no right to exist insults their history.

The American National Park Service does more justice and has more respect for the Loyalists than Canada's own federal government. Government of Canada: The Loyalists had slaves and sh*t. canada.ca/en/library-archive… National Park Service: 'Forced from their homes and persecuted at the end of the American Revolution, United Empire Loyalists sought refuge in British Canada. When war broke out in 1812, Loyalist families committed themselves to defending the British Crown and their lands for a second time. The Americans’ failure to conquer Canada evoked a powerful sense of vindication for many Loyalists who managed to survive both conflicts. Those survivors came to form their own brand of postwar identity—one based on resistance, unity, and loyalty to empire'. nps.gov/articles/upper-canad… Night and day. That really should change.

The FLQ planted bombs in Anglophone institutions and neighborhoods.
Anglos were never forced out of Montreal. The real story is this: many anglophones felt French people shouldn’t exist in Canada and made their own lives miserable by refusing to learn French while living within a French nation.
