The Edmonton-Strathcona MP is sending residents a letter that says, in part: “The questions posed in this referendum seek to divide Canadians based on where they were born. They seek to deny some of the most basic human rights, including access to healthcare and education, to people who came to Canada looking to build a better life for themselves and their families. Hate is not the answer to our problems.” Asking citizens questions in a referendum is not hate. It is civic engagement. Telling people their vote will deny others basic human rights is fearmongering. How does an elected official get away with misleading Albertans like this? And if taxpayer funds were used to send this letter, why are taxpayers paying for it?

The bull shit in the referendum is getting way to thick for anyone to figure out the proper answers or even the proper questions!! This was supposed to be a question for Albertans, but we ended up with people from all over Canada interfering in this!! To the point that the question, and the referendum are going to be useless to everyone unless we end up with a 60%+ vote for option 2! The feds, the provincial Gov't, the third party advertisers, everyone should be forced to stay out of these. The only ones that should be allowed to advertise is the original people/parties involved but that would make sense which is not likely in Canada!!

immigration should be part of your economic policy. In a modern welfare state the government should limit the number of low skill low wage workers admitted or deny them social services as they do in some countries. We can not admit millions of people who will take more in services than they will ever return in taxes. It will eventually bankrupt the country. we need to stop acting like Canada is a charity founded to benefit the citizens of other nations and start instituting immigration policies that benefit Canadian citizens.
