Our startup didn't fail because we couldn't build. We built constantly. We shipped until the next payment came in, then shipped again. Nobody ever asked who was supposed to find out about any of it. We had no audience, no posts, nothing anyone could follow. We were a company that could make things and had no way of being noticed. That's why I'm doing this part in public now. Building is the half I already know how to do.

The most difficult part is to bring users to your app everyday

I'm building an app and a body at the same time. Three months into the training, a few weeks into the app. Here's the difference between them. With code I can work all week, feel productive the whole time, and end up exactly where I started. I've done that plenty of times. Calisthenics doesn't work like that. You either did the reps or you didn't. I want both to look different in a year. The app will take weeks. The body takes a lot longer. Posting both here if you want to follow along.

Anybody can start a company. I did, with two friends, and all three of us are directors. That's the part I thought was hard. It wasn't. The hard part is getting one stranger to open something you made and come back the next day. Five years in and I've never done that. Working solo now, building my own thing, trying to get that one stranger. Join me on my journey PS: last year photo with my co-founders

Relatable. I've killed more side projects than I've shipped — every new idea pulls you away from the one in front of you. The indie edge isn't talent, it's forcing yourself to finish. Ship WAVE. x.com/echo_yash/status/21036… #shipping
I have a folder of apps nobody will ever see. They all died near the end. Not because I didn't want to finish them, but because the new idea always looked more interesting than the one in front of me. It's the same every time. Some tiny new idea shows up and takes the whole thing. So I'm putting every other idea aside. And shipping WAVE this month. know more about it in echoyash.com/wave

I'm Yash. I dropped out of college at 21 and started freelancing. Curiosity put me together with two friends, and we spent three years building a company. Now I'm building alone, which is the first thing I've ever done with nobody to fall back on. I have never made a single dollar since I started solo. It's getting hard to find real people who make cool things. So I'm making a thread of every one I've found today. Show us your face! 👋👇

I've gone to most of my favourite artist's concerts alone, and I've never once felt alone. Every time there's a room full of strangers feeling exactly what I'm feeling. Spotify has known my taste for years and never told me those people existed. That's the app I'm building. WAVE

I've played the same five artists for years. Spotify treats taste as something to feed you. It has never once shown me a person. WAVE coming soon

Hot take: Creating a product without audience or distribution is a waste of time
