A year ago, we told Dashaβs story. An 8-year-old girl arrested alongside her family by armed Border Patrol agents in downtown Chicago.
Her photo, clutching her doll as agents surrounded the family, became a symbol of an operation that was arresting brown people regardless of criminal background.
The whole family is now home. Dasha, now 9, is back in school. But she still remembers that Sunday.
