And nothing you said here refutes Obama's claim lol.
Obama often said “don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good.” Obama also lifted the crude oil ban in exchange for clean-energy subsidies, promising this would lead to the widespread adoption of clean energy. 2 years later, the US was the largest producer of crude globally

people didn't like gays, man, I'm sorry but it's true. That's just the truth of what happened. Painting Americans as irrational because they didn't like what was happening with the gays right in front of their eyes is wrong

For the people who unironically said, "boom goes the dynamite!" when I was a kid, where are you now?

keep in mind, this is without assuming the next Democratic President boosts clean energy incentives back up—permitting reform PLUS IRA 2.0 would accelerate this even more
This modeling from Greenline Insights shows that by 2035, passing transmission reform would: 💸Lower bills by $1.1B 📉Reduce nat gas from 45% to 39% of fuel mix 📈Increase battery deployment by 65%, solar by 22%, and wind by 14% 🍃Cut emissions by 9% greenlineinsights.com/interc…

This is a fantastic metaphor for the techbros who think they're solving problems with their big brains when actually they're ruining everything.

The Apple Store on 5th Ave is filled with incredible details. This perfect little door keeps the fire extinguisher hidden.

Wasn't really seeing the concept at first but this is actually pretty cool.
The NSO recovery park along the Joe Louis Greenway will feature accessible green space, gathering areas and opportunities for remembrance, including a planned digital memorial honoring loved ones lost to substance use disorder. buff.ly/bG50HpP

The Center for Biological Diversity is an “environmental” group that sues clean energy projects and stood with the GOP in opposing the Inflation Reduction Act. They are climate arsonists of the worst kind and should never be listened to
Scoop: Enviros held a call Thurs in which progressive opponents tried to rally fence-sitters against the permitting bill. I obtained the transcript. "We really have to have a pretty clear agreement by all parties that this is an effort to stop this bill, not to make it better"

Unfortunately this is one of those areas where I'd rather work with a Republican any day over these people. They are not rational, they are delusional holy warriors.
These activists just suck. They are completely unwilling to compromise in any form. And that strategy will get us what we've had before this bill: nothing.

Plausible: If not for enviro groups, U.S. nuclear generation today could be roughly 1.5-3x larger than present. Could have netted 20-30 Gt of CO2 emissions reduction. Annual emissions could today be ~20% lower. That's 25,000,000,000 tons of CO2.

You could hypothesize this would alleviate some recent interconnection bottlenecking. You could also hypothesize that it would have facilitated a steeper renewables ramp. Those are all worthy thought experiments but the health stuff is what always really gets me down.

Ideological rigidity and shoegazing should be constantly questioned because it can be so harmful. Progress requires us to be pragmatic, practical, and long-looking. I've changed my posture on a variety of things as a result. Red light cameras. Gambling. Etc.

You have potentially the staunchest climate fighter in the senate and the staunchest public lands defender both championing the bill they wrote. The absurdly large size of this phone call is also a sign that The Groups are having massive coalition problems

It’s instructive to see groups ostensibly dedicated to fighting climate change say they don’t think a bill should be judged by whether it reduces carbon emissions.

Thursday, on Detroit's Belle Isle, the state of Michigan announced an $89 million investment in the Kalamazoo and Detroit rivers. The state said that of the $89 million, $50 million will go toward cleaning PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls) in the Detroit River, $25 million to restore the Kalamazoo River, and $14 million for restoration projects statewide. “we should oppose making electricity cheaper because data centers would benefit” is just an absolutely insane position to take, especially given this bill imposes *additional* costs on data centers!
Here’s my one contribution to the permitting reform discourse: The data center industry *loves* this bill. (This is, I suspect, why so many Big Tech-funded abundance bros are so agog over it.) Any challenger can fairly say voting for this bill is voting to make it easier to put a data center in your backyard. Best of luck with that!
