hey all - update for SR008: It's now the FINAL weekend to apply for our next residency in San Francisco. Applications close this Sunday, Nov 1 at 11:59 PM PT. Here's the link: speedrun.a16z.com/apply How it works: - you apply - we review, reach out to get introduced, etc - if there's a fit, we handshake and sign - we wire our investment right away! - plus you get access to >$10M in credits right away - you'll onboard + start working with us immediately, have access to working out of our SF offices, etc The official residency starts Feb 2027 where we'll have speakers, office hours, and much more. I plan to be on site and look forward to meeting many of you You might ask- who's the best fit for this? We want to talk to you as early as possible, and that means: - no company yet - no deck - no huge insight tweet thread - sometimes not even fully committed yet You don't need the perfect idea. We can start working together when you're iterating and getting the idea off the ground. That's the whole point of speedrun - it's our way of backing you from Day 0. More official stuff below: - Deadline is this Sunday, Nov 1 at 11:59 PM PT (this weekend!) - SR008 runs Feb 1 through April 18, 2027 in San Francisco -- twelve weeks of firesides, office hours, and sessions, closing out with Demo Day on April 13 in front of thousands of investors - Capital: up to $1M with a two-week close target, plus $10M+ in credits from 200+ partners - Customers: SR Insiders gets you in front of 10,000+ buyers and operators, including 150+ C-suite execs, plus a full day of live demos at AI Faire - Talent: our Talent Network of 171,000+ engineers, designers, and product people. 230+ hires so far, $0 in fees. Plus visa, banking, and housing help if you're coming from abroad - A team of ~40 battle-tested investors and operators who help cover your gaps without adding headcount -- GTM, marketing, brand, talent, fundraising, and more - a16z speedrun is super selective -- fewer than 0.4% of applicants get in. You'll join a tight-knit community of founders from 20+ countries who stay involved as speakers, advisors, and often each other's first customers - Still in school or still finding your idea/team? Check out the alpha fellowship too -- up to $250K for students, recent grads, and dropouts

Today, I'm launching Vene: your AI advocate for healthcare. I used to spend a dozen hours a week managing care for my dad, a disabled veteran, and my mom, who has a severe autoimmune disease. Healthcare was a full-time job for my family. Our goal is to end the burden of care for every family: When you're sick, or caring for someone who is, the hard part is everything after the hospital: the referral that never arrives, the test result nobody calls about, the bill that makes no sense, and everything in between. For my dad, he spent hours on the phone to book an MRI. When he showed up, they told him to his face that insurance had stopped covering it. Then insurance told him to call a list of other offices and get the paperwork sent over himself, and he ended up giving up. That’s why we’ve trained Vene to handle the toughest aspects of healthcare: - Coordinating several specialists at once - Challenging surprise bills and treatment denials - Catching missed follow-ups and care gaps My mom uses Vene to coordinate her primary care and endocrinologist, automatically refill and renew her prescriptions, and manage my little sister’s dental appointments. They were my first users, and now over 5,000 families use Vene, and we're deploying it to another 50,000 patients across provider networks in the US.

Today, we’re introducing Nefesh by @electrokare - a foundation model for human physiology. The human body produces an extraordinary amount of information. Our ability to understand it, and use it to help, has barely caught up. We started Electrokare to change that. Our first window into the body is the ECG. A few seconds of electrical activity, collected every day in clinics, hospitals, and wearables around the world. We believe it can tell physicians far more about a patient than it does today. Nefesh is our foundation for that work: learning from the underlying signal to answer a growing range of questions about cardiac function, structure, and the physiology beyond them. For a physician, the promise is concrete. Recognizing disease earlier. Knowing which patient needs a closer look. Getting more information from a test already in your hands. For us, this is the beginning of a much larger undertaking. We want to bring multiple signals and modalities together into a model of how the human body works, one that can help medicine move from treating disease after it declares itself to understanding what is changing, and acting earlier. Today, we’re sharing the first chapter. Introducing Nefesh, by Electrokare. Live across multiple clinical sites, and tens of thousands of patients. Making physiology computable. If you’re a physician or healthcare leader who wants to help build this future, I’d love to hear from you.

Incredibly excited about what @MLeshchiner and the @electrokare team is building. The idea that we can unlock entirely new insights into human health from signals we already collect is incredibly powerful. Nefesh is an exciting first step toward making human physiology computable. Proud to be an early backer!

Mitchell is by far one of the most incredible people to talk to. Some of my family members have chronic disease and I often wonder what we could have done before the symptoms fully developed. Very exciting work!
