We're excited to announce the completion of our Artist Box! 🎉 This year, the DAO set out to solve two of the biggest hurdles we identified for Squiggles. The first was improving how the art is experienced, interacted with, and displayed, which we addressed through the Display Station. The second was solving the challenge of storing and collecting onchain art. After hundreds of calls and conversations with museums, traditional art collectors, and other industry participants, one issue came up repeatedly: the complexity of securely storing onchain art. The multiple steps involved, the responsibility of self-custody, and the technical barriers created significant friction for potential collectors. In many cases, that friction was enough to discourage someone who was interested in Squiggles from ultimately collecting one. After extensive design work and numerous iterations across concepts, materials, and functionality, we have now finalized our solution to this problem. What’s inside the Artist Box: - A handcrafted wooden case with a metal Squiggle engraved on the lid - Acquisition and gift documents, along with a signed letter from the artist, collection information, and a Polaroid signed by Snowfro - A high-quality print of the collected Squiggle(s) - A USB drive with the Squiggle in multiple display-ready formats (GIF, MP4, 4K, 8K, transparent background, 3D files, etc.) - A Keystone tablet for securely storing the seed phrase - Our custom tamper-proof lockbox How it works: - When a museum expresses interest, @ArtOnBlockchain and SquiggleDAO host a call with their representatives. During this call, we provide a secure link that generates a wallet and seed phrase directly for the museum, ensuring that neither Snowfro nor the DAO has any access to avoid liability. - The seed phrase is saved onto the Keystone tablet provided, which is then sealed inside the DAO custom made tamper-proof lockbox. Once sealed, the tablet cannot be accessed without the lockbox being physically destroyed. The museum then places the lockbox in its secure vault, alongside its other high-value artworks. - After a test transaction is verified, the Squiggle is sent to the museum’s newly created wallet. At that point, the institution has the infrastructure it needs to collect, preserve, and display on-chain generative art, opening the doors to other artists. - By establishing this infrastructure, we unlock new opportunities for other artists, DAOs, and collectors alike, enabling museums to securely collect and preserve their work.
