A world that represents freedom, individuality, democracy, truth, epistemic sovereignty, and the pursuit of happiness. All the things that prevent their vision of tyranny and subjugation. That's what they tried to attack 25 years ago. The goal was not just to kill people in the USA that morning. It was to kill the USA in the minds of its people. "Never forget" means never letting that happen. It means protecting the dream, and never seeing the land of liberty through the eyes of its adversaries.

There is a word for this. It is called apotheosis. It is when members of a cult believe their leader possesses divine powers that are, in fact, just naturally occurring phenomena. Modern historic examples include: North Korea: when Kim Jong-Il was born, biographies claimed winter instantly shifted to spring and a double rainbow appeared. It was later revealed he was born a year earlier in Siberia. Mao’s red sun: state propaganda claimed that when the morning sun rose earlier than usual, it was because of admiring Mao’s portrait the night before. Now, an otter appears in the Bronx River with absolutely zero attribution to any policy or procedure under Mamdani’s administration, and yet, his cult have apotheosized this man as the deity that hath brought the nameless otter forth.

“That’s different.” No. That IS socialism. It is the erasure of meritocracy. That is the entire purpose of socialism. That our world stop organizing around merit, effort, or individual creation and instead apply one standard baseline to all—from which nobody can deviate. That’s why it failed every time it was attempted. Because humans are hardwired to self-actualitize. It is the highest human purpose, under Maslow’s hierarchy of needs.
