Wallet competition is quietly changing. The question used to be who supports more tokens. Now it looks more like who can make the wallet disappear from the user experience.
@StartaleApp and Coinbase’s smart wallet are both heading there. Passkeys replace the seed phrase, smart accounts replace manual transaction rituals, and paymasters let apps cover gas for the user. Where Startale differs is the placement. The smart wallet sits inside the wider Soneium experience, with mini apps, DeFi, rewards and payments running on top of it, so the wallet stops being the destination and becomes the layer underneath.
Under the hood, Startale’s AA stack uses smart accounts, bundlers and paymasters, and its docs also cover ERC-7579 compatible modules, including recovery and smart sessions. Coinbase’s approach combines passkey accounts, sponsored network fees and transaction batching across supported EVM environments.
Different ecosystems, same goal: remove as much blockchain friction as possible. If that holds, the best wallet may be the one users barely notice.
Do you think users will ever care which wallet is underneath, or only what it lets them do?
