Just came out of one of the more sobering sessions at Skift Meetings Forum. Nirjary Desai laid out how sophisticated vendor fraud has become, including AI-scripted customer service, spoofed event and side event pages.
The industry's response so far? Only accept wire transfers from new vendors. I get the instinct, but a wire is slow, opaque, and doesn't actually verify anything, it just adds friction to an already broken process.
