The news calls Biden adding 100,000 cops to the largest punishment bureaucracy in world history "crime prevention." It fails to tell readers that science shows investments in housing, education, healthcare and other root causes is how to actually prevent crime.
President Joe Biden will lay out plans to ask Congress for $37 billion for crime prevention programs as he seeks to address one of the top concerns among Americans ahead of congressional elections in November reut.rs/3B0M2qS

Reporting like this from major news outlets is like saying that solution to climate change is to give more money to Exxon and the Koch brothers to build more pipelines. Reporting about "crime" and police is astonishing for its failure to meet basic journalistic context standards.

It's not about crime prevention. It's containment.

Do we really need policeman - running around with guns? Most police people have personality problems. We know there’s systemic racism. Take the guns away from police. And think about taking police away.

Or that the concern is bullshit, which they fed. Crime is crazy low. I mean, not white collar crime, wage theft, etc. which are out of hand. But we never add anyone to investigate that stuff, nope.

Maybe you could sneak ‘housing and less poverty and more social preventative services’ into some thing called a crime prevention bill, and have someone pass it on the illusion they are getting another free labor camp.

Biden knows more cops will not work but he needs the votes of people who thinks it will work

And what will communities do with those extra cops? Well, Nick Saban will now get 3 cops as his armed escort when he enters & exits the field. When billie eyelash plays a concert, she will get 2 extra cops to protect her from her fans. These things make our lives safer.

There’s a lot more in the plan than “100,000 cops.”

If they wanted to prevent crime they would have spent the money trying to giving cops better training instead of adding a ton more individuals with questionable self control abilities.

Alex, if possible can you you provide sources where the science shows that investments in housing, education, and health care help prevent crime ?

First, you don't know his plan. Second, we used to have crime in the streets when people supported the police (for the most part) and respected the military. Now we have fringe groups that stormed the Capitol & would shoot you for no reason other than you don't agree with them.

Hey, when we elect the guy who wrote the crime bill, this is what we get.
