A lot of teacher surveys ask how the new edtech is working. Very few ask how the teacher is actually doing. I said that out loud today during a conversation @boardyai set up for me with someone who works across EdTech and K-12. Saying it to a stranger made something I’d been wrestling with while we build the @evolvinginedu Educator Intelligence Layer much clearer. Schools collect a lot of feedback about tools: Did you like it? Did it work? Would you use it again? Those questions have value. But they don’t tell us much about workload, support, school climate, unmet needs, or the everyday reality of classroom experience. And that gap matters. Teachers are leaving the profession, while the pipeline of people entering it isn’t keeping pace. Educators are also the most significant in-school influence on student learning. When we support one educator well, the impact can extend to hundreds of students over time. That’s why we’re starting with teacher voice about overall needs, rather than asking teachers to rate another product. Our goal is a survey that takes about 5–7 minutes. Teachers already have enough on their plates. A feedback tool shouldn’t become another burden. But the conversation also highlighted some harder questions: Would this actually fit into a workflow teachers already use? Are administrators actively looking for a better way to understand these needs? We haven’t answered those questions yet. And honestly, that’s important. We don’t want to build something simply because we think it should exist. We want to understand whether it solves a real problem in a way that works for the people who would actually use it. We ask teachers to rate the tools. We rarely ask about the day they used them in. Educators, when was the last time a survey asked about your day? #TeacherVoice #EvolvingInEducation

We’re building the Educator Intelligence Layer. Not a chatbot. Not a teacher evaluation system. Not an AI that decides for schools. EIL is decision-support infrastructure: Educator Voice → Data → Intelligence → Insight → Action The backend, import pipeline, privacy gate, AI analysis engine, and human review controls are working now. This is still an MVP/prototype. Next is validation, then a small controlled school pilot. Teachers are already telling us what they need. We need better ways to listen, while humans stay responsible for what happens next. AI assists. Humans decide. Emmanuel is a Machine Learning/AI Engineer and researcher specializing in intelligent systems, large language models, responsible AI, and machine learning infrastructure. His work spans AI reasoning and evaluation, LLM development, computer vision, and privacy-focused intelligent technologies. He is also the Founder and Lead ML Engineer of Velen AI, a privacy-first AI platform focused on responsible human-AI interaction. At Evolving in Education, Emmanuel is helping build the technology behind our Educator Intelligence Platform. His work is focused on turning educator feedback and data into meaningful insight, helping identify patterns and support gaps, and creating practical tools that can help people make better-informed decisions. But what we value just as much as his technical expertise is the way he approaches the work. We don't want to build AI simply because we can. This is exactly why responsible AI cannot be an afterthought. As AI capabilities accelerate, security, privacy, human oversight, and responsible implementation have to evolve with them. At Evolving in Education, we believe the same principle applies to education: build responsibly from the beginning, not after the fact. The window to get this right is now.

We’re building the Educator Intelligence Platform as part of a much bigger vision at @evolvinginedu. The goal isn’t simply to use AI to analyze educator feedback. It’s to build a responsible intelligence layer that can help turn educator voice into meaningful insight and, ultimately, better support. And as the scope of the project grows, so does our responsibility around privacy, security, and responsible data use. That means privacy isn’t something we add at the end. It is being considered from the architecture and data flow forward, with clear boundaries around what we collect, how it is used, who can access it, and where human judgment remains essential. We’re still building. We’re still learning. And we’re intentionally taking the time to build this the right way. Educator voice deserves to be heard. It also deserves to be protected.
