CHI told us she would have her hip surgery every year for 3 years. Then told us they could do it in cappagh.The years went by and no surgery appointment came. No explanation why we were waiting. Still children who didn’t need hip surgery had it done.

On one occasion where Harvey went in to theatre for urological surgery, he arrived back to us with a very obvious burn on his leg. It was a perfect circle, caused by a cauterisation tool being left sitting on his leg while someone wasn’t paying enough attention.
Nobody from his team noticed.
@Stephen63224725 had to alert them and point it out and then they tried to suggest it was simply a reaction to a dressing. The urologist then agreed it was a true burn and apologised as it was his theatre so he was in charge.
How little attention must have been paid for this to go unnoticed while it happened and after.
The round scar was still there til the day he died.

Harvey Morrison (9) [RIP] waited over three years for scoliosis surgery, and by the time of the surgery at the end of 2024, his curvature had reached 130 degrees. He sadly passed away on July 29 2025

When *HAVING* to take your child to another country to treat their 130+ degree scoliosis. The X-Ray technician had tears in her eyes when she saw the severity of my son’s curve and the pain he was enduring. A body crushing itself and its organs, ignored by an Irish ‘health system’, that forced many families to go public for help. The excuse not to hold a public enquiry due to privacy, is beyond irony.

Families of kids suffering from serious health conditions are "deeply concerned" ahead of a new probe over care at Children's Health Ireland (#CHI)
▫️A statement from Spina Bifida Paediatric Advocacy Group @SBH_PAG said that they are "deeply concerned" that a closed-door inquiry would fall short of what was promised.
It read: "The proposed scope contains significant gaps in both timeframe and clinical focus. The experiences of children cannot be reduced to waiting lists, administrative processes or individual procedures. The inquiry must examine the wider system of care and the clinical consequences for children.

Families have reacted with fury to the decision to investigate the spinal surgeries scandal through a private investigation, rather than a public tribunal, which many relatives had wanted.
