Yesterday's ISPR presser said made a comment about PTI's vote bank only being 31% (31.17%) of a turnout of 47%.
This is a great example of why it was a bad, bad idea for the presser to venture into the political domain.
Even forgetting that opinion polls and the level of rigging showed PTI's actual votes to be over 50% of those polled, even at face value, at 31.17%, they are almost 8 percentage points higher than PMLn (23.6%).
And this, despite fighting without a symbol, leader in jail, entire party underground, disinformation campaigns in every constituency, fake polls, thousands of arrests, hundreds of parliamentarians forced to leave the party, and scores of enforced disappearances.
To state that PTI's vote bank does not reflect the popular will, is to misunderstand the basics of Westminster style, first past the post, parliamentary democracy.
Of course a vote for PTI is not a vote against the army, or a vote for the events of 9th May, but they are a vote negate the propaganda against Imran Khan's guilt, against banishing PTI, and against the oppression that occurred against us.
If this is the yardstick, then no government since 1988 is legitimate in Pakistan...
