Stardust International plan:
•A fleet of 100 to 200 modified business jets, built to fly above 60,000 feet.
•5 to 10 tons of particles per flight. One passage also says the system may disperse tens of tons per flight.
•3 to 5 flights a day.
•Target of several million tons a year. One example is 1 teragram a year, which is 1 million tons, spread globally across latitudes.
•Rate on the hardware: at least 1 ton per hour, with 1, 5, or 10 tons per hour also described. Five tons is described as emptyable in about an hour at altitude.
•Commercial large jets and purpose-built airplanes are listed as other options.
How a flight would release it
•Powder is loaded in hoppers or standard cargo containers.
•A feeder meters it to a disperser.
•Compressed air, from engine bleed air, an intake duct, or onboard cylinders, runs through a nozzle.
•Venturi suction pulls the powder into that airflow.
•Particles leave through a discharge nozzle behind the aircraft.
•An optional grid or bars can break clumps before release.
•Release is into the stratosphere, aimed at a planned latitude and altitude.
•Sensors can check the rate, particle size, and electric charge right after release.
Stardust Solutions deployment plan: to spray 1Mt -10Mt of aerosols high into the stratosphere, above the troposphere where planes normally fly. Up there the air barely moves, so the particles would stay stagnant and drift, reflecting sunlight and dimming the Earth.
12/24, Stardust Solutions International Patent “Aerial Dispersal of Reflective Particles.” (not approved) WO2026139957A2, “Airborne system for deagglomeration, dispersal and characterization of particles.” The powder would sit in the fuselage.
Compressed air would pull it through Venturi nozzles, break up clumps, and blow it out into the jet’s. The patent covers a feeder and a sprayer that take power and compressed air from the airplane and release reflective particles, about 0.1 to 1 micrometer, into the stratosphere.
Air would come from bottles in tests, engine bleed air, or a dedicated unit with its own intake.
The planes listed are modified small jets, airliners, or a purpose-built aircraft.
