9T0MD Democratic Republic of the Congo DXPedition and Gauß-Schule in Friedland come together via QO-100.
Bridge to the Congo: Live satellite radio at the Gauß-Schule!
A great adventure for our technology class: On October 8, 2026, at 10:00 AM UTC (12:00 PM German time), we are launching a spectacular experiment, establishing a radio link spanning 36,000 kilometers into space and back!
The students of our new elective course Technology / Amateur Radio are bringing the world straight into our radio room. Via the geostationary satellite QO-100, we will establish live contact with the DXpedition in distant Central Africa (Democratic Republic of the Congo)
Who is transmitting? The kids (ages 12–14) of the Carl-Friedrich-Gauß-Schule under the callsigns DL0CFG and DN5CFG.
The station on the other end: Adventurer Emil Bergmann, 9T0MD (DL8JJ), transmitting live from the jungle camp in the Congo, sharing exclusive updates from his expedition.
The equipment: An IC-7100, a DX-Patrol ground station, and our 100cm dish with a Poty antenna aimed directly at the orbit.
For many of our students, this will be their very first time ever speaking into a microphone – a true adventure that is bound to get their hearts racing!
Cross your fingers for a crystal-clear connection to Africa.
73 and good DX!
