Things in Cuba are absolutely catastrophic right now.
The entire country is dealing with massive blackouts, some lasting over 29 hours. This is the third major grid collapse in just a few months. Around 10 million people are being thrown into darkness again. Hospitals are cutting surgeries, food is spoiling without refrigeration, water systems are failing, and garbage is piling up in the streets. Daily life is basically grinding to a halt.
This isn’t just “bad management.” It’s being pushed over the edge by a fuel crisis. Cuba isn’t getting the oil it needs, and without it, the power grid can’t function. The US, under fucking Trump, has pressured countries not to supply fuel, even threatening tariffs on those that do. After Venezuelan shipments stopped earlier this year, other countries backed off too, and now Cuba is basically cut off.
And what’s Trump’s response? He’s acting like it’s a game. Talking about how he could “do anything he wants” with Cuba, even hinting at taking the country. Meanwhile, people are literally sitting in the dark, cooking over fires, and struggling just to get water.
Trump is an absolute asshole for this. This goes way beyond politics or ideology. It’s economic warfare that’s causing real, preventable suffering. People are going without power, food is being lost, hospitals are struggling, and lives are being put at risk.
The Cuban people deserve better than being squeezed like this to force regime change. End the blockade.
