Israel will kill all Palestinians because--GASP!--they'll remember the atrocities against their people and will seek justice. We must never forget.

Donald Trump is the authoritarian socialist president that Republicans used to warn about.
If Republicans win the House of Representatives and the Senate in the 2026 Midterm Elections, I’m going to give all adult citizens in the United States of America, $5,000! Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to signing those checks!
Community note
This $5,000 “Trump Dividend” promise was first made in Sept. 2026. Similar prior DOGE and tariff check pledges have not been paid out. It would cost ~$1.2 trillion and require congressional approval. pbs.org/newshour/polit… washingtonpost.com/politics/2026/…

Over these past months, we have been working on our financial deficit. We will close the existing gap by the end of the year. We still have some questions that need to be worked on, but we will close the gap. I think this is a big success for our country, our team, and the EU. It was not simple. We worked with our budget, with our partners – the EU in particular, and we will also try to partially use money from the loan for next year. We will move it closer to January, and using this money we will order drones for January and February 2027. My team came from Brussels and reported back. It works well. I hope everything will go this way. From an interview with Reuters. (2/3)

This goes well beyond any normal "conflict of interest." Putin is offering a bribe, and he has already achieved a result: The current US policy, which is to stay quiet and refuse help for Ukraine, even as Russian terrorism increases and civilian casualties grow

It’s not a coincidence. National socialists tend to be apologists for the worst authoritarians in the world because they share a hatred for western civilization. But it does expose how someone like Carlson is particularly dishonest because he will apply standards to western countries like America and Israel while providing cover and insisting on none for Russia, Nazi Germany, the Islamic Republic, Assad’s regime etc. On a larger point, I understand it’s embarrassing for people who tried to defend Tucker for the last several years to now have to admit they were wrong and he is exactly the demonic and dishonest propagandist many of us have identified him as during that time, but at some point you can’t keep ignoring reality and doubling down. And especially if you’re a politician asking for people to trust your judgement, it’s fair for those people to judge you for a continued association with such a figure.
Somehow the Hitler apologists and the Putin apologists tend to be the same people.

“He's not a big believer in *anything* other than the bit itself.” That’s the whole game! Carlson, Hasan, Theo Von, Fuentes, Joe Rogan, etc… If you push on any of them, they either back away or retreat into a different question. It’s all high school debate club tactics meant for engagement and we are all worse for it.

I hear Carlson a bit differently here. Yes, he's definitely suggesting he'd be fine with the Nazis winning. the war and defeating Britain. But what comes through for me is the profound intellectual and moral unseriousness. It's a kind of debater's nihilism that thinks any good sounding talking point is a good point. For instance, he says at least if Germany won, Britain would be speaking a "European language." That sounds clever to un-clever people. But it's moronic on its own terms (Would Tucker be okay with Americans speaking Spanish? That's a European language, too). It reduces the interests and issues involved in WWII down to a ridiculous single metric. It's childish bullshit, but it sounds sophisticated to the insipid and the ignorant and it thrills those who understand the trolling of it. And that's why this interview is representative of Tucker more broadly these days. He's at sea. Nothing really matters except "winning" the conversation, the moment, the clicks. He's embraced a kind of Nietzschean amoralism that thinks sowing doubt in any notions of right v wrong, good v evil, traditional patriotism v transgressive iconoclasm is self-rewarding. "Neocons" and their ilk think Putin is bad? I'll claim he's awesome with the dumbest arguments imaginable packaged like they're smart. Similarly, Tucker likes to traffic in the idea that Hitler should have won, not because Tucker's a big believer in Nazism. He's not a big believer in *anything* other than the bit itself. He likes the idea that the Nazis should have won, because he likes turning over turtles and being a dick for the amusement of people who celebrate dickishness. More specifically, he also likes it because the argument that it was a good thing we defeated the Nazis is inconvenient to him and his pet causes. That America and the UK were the good guys still has heft, substance, and authority, and Tucker's whole transvaluative approach is to burn down good things with weight and substance by elevating evil bullshit into seriousness to prove his own transgressive courage. Every argument is permitted and equally valid because all truths are equally just matters of opinion. The superior opinion isn't the one with the better facts or the better reasoning, it's just the one more confidently or sneeringly expressed. That's why this interview went badly for Tucker, because he ran into someone who actually knows true things and is confident in what he knows. This is also why Tucker spends most of his time talking to cranks, bigots, weirdoes, and hacks who are good at sounding like experts so long as their bullshit goes unchallenged. Tucker doesn't give a rat's ass about ideas or history. He cares about vibes and sowing moral doubt about what is good by hawking moral support for what is bad. The Holocaust becomes a triviality in that project, which in a very real way, is worse than denying it happened. He's denying it didn't really matter much if it did.
Tucker saying he wishes Hitler had won World War II was absolutely on my 2026 bingo card

The Russians sent Kirill Dmitriev, the oligarch in charge of Russia's sovereign wealth fund, to negotiate with Kushner and Witkoff for a reason. Trump 2.0 is a smash-and-grab job to make his family and friends as much money as possible while they're still in government.
One day after @jaredkushner took to this platform to insist his work diplomatically is unconnected to his business interests, the Times drops this one

This video should never be forgotten; it's the first time that a president incited an insurrection to remain in power and disrupt the peaceful transfer of power! Donald Trump's name will go down in infamy, and those who supported him will forever be known as willful traitors. 📚

Hope I behave as admirably as Smith if I’m subpoenaed. Join me and former Judiciary Cmtee member Elizabeth Holtzman with @velshi.com on @11thhourmsnow.bsky.social to discuss all this.

Obama was the most conservative president of my life. Loyal to his wife and kids, passed a heritage foundation health care plan, and preserved the American banking industry. How do you get more conservative than that?
