Illinois is world famous for terrible Democratic governance. This is a truly absurd comment.

Ten years ago, the Republican governor of Illinois made this state a national punchline. Since then, we've balanced the budget every year, earned 12 credit upgrades, and raised the minimum wage to give 1.4 million Illinoisans a raise.

The frontier of artificial intelligence is advancing at an alarming speed. Over the weekend, industry leaders voiced support for an idea that the American people and many AI researchers in their own labs have been calling for: We must responsibly slow the pace of frontier AI development.
A slowdown is critical in order to ensure AI serves the public interest. Pacing AI development does not mean giving up on this technology’s potential to produce life-saving benefits in fields like medicine — some of which we are already seeing. Rather, it is about setting up sensible guardrails so that AI does not completely escape human control and endanger our safety and collective future.
This moment demands the leadership of the United States government. Congress must work at an urgent pace to pass new laws and establish a new federal entity to provide oversight and independent testing for this technology, to ensure accountability, and to protect our wellbeing.
We need cooperation at an international level as well. The United States must continue to lead the world in developing AI technology even as we seek to impose common-sense safety standards. This means that the president must do his job to protect America’s interests by pursuing a treaty with countries like China to stop dangerous uses of AI, limit the speed of its development, and adopt global standards for testing.

Anyone who has been living in IL the past several decades understands that residents have received next to nothing in exchange for these property taxes except permission from the government to keep your house.
End property taxes.
Cook County property taxes just hit $19.9 billion.
That’s a 3.9% increase of $744 million while inflation was only 3.1%.
Homeowners will pay 80% of that increase, as median bills in the north and northwest suburbs jumped 6.7%.
This marks the 32nd straight year of higher taxes after local school boards, cities, parks, and libraries raised the levies again under Toni Preckwinkle’s watch.
Illinois already has the highest residential property tax rate in the country.

I had a guy literally walk out of the taxi stand and approach me just now as if he were a cab driver, when he was actually just driving a random black car. I knew better, but I walked right past him.
How many people are getting hoodwinked and paying outrageous fees because these guys are just pretending to be cab drivers? It’s unsafe, and it’s taking money away from the guys who are licensed to drive.

Chainlink Labs has submitted a formal response to the @USTreasury’s Request for Comment on “Innovative Methods to Detect Illicit Activity Involving Digital Assets,” as part of implementing the GENIUS Act.
With identity oracles and programmable rules engines, onchain compliance can be more effective, auditable, and scalable than existing, manual checks.
The submission highlights four areas where cryptographic technologies will materially improve outcomes, collectively strengthening transparency and efficiency while aligning with the GENIUS Act’s goal to modernize digital asset oversight through innovation:
1. Portable, Privacy-Preserving Digital Identity
Blockchain-based verifiable credentials, facilitated by an identity-oracle model, streamline KYC/AML processes, reduce redundant data collection, and preserve user privacy through selective disclosure.
2. Clarifying Administrative Control vs. Customer Relationships
Regulators should make clear that simply having administrative control of a smart contract does not establish a customer relationship or trigger “financial institution” status under the Bank Secrecy Act. This distinction protects responsible software development while ensuring compliance duties remain with parties that actually serve customers.
3. Rules-Based Onchain Compliance
Programmable rules engines, such as Chainlink’s Automated Compliance Engine (ACE), enforce risk-based policies before settlement, reduce human error, and improve auditability for financial institutions.
4. Cryptographically Assured Reserve Transparency
Chainlink Proof of Reserve and Secure Mint gating frameworks connect offchain attestations to onchain execution, offering continuous, verifiable assurance that tokenized assets are fully backed.
