She is just 5 years old. An age to learn what love feels like. To find comfort in family. To learn from her herd. To simply learn how to be an elephant. Instead, this tender heart is already being taught the language of human dominance, chains, commands and the weight of humans on her back. Before she even gets to know freedom, we are teaching her obedience. And then we call it tradition. What kind of culture needs an animal to surrender her entire life so we can preserve ours? #EndTempleElephantCulture #SaveIndianAnimals #AmendPCA @PFCII @CMOTamilnadu @trishtrashers @jsaideepak @annamalai_k @CMOfficeAssam @narendramodi @PetaIndia @pfaindia @LiveLawIndia

“The greatness of a nation can be judged by how its animals are treated,” said Mahatma Gandhi Yet Bijuli, Rupsingh, Durga, Shiva & Hiralal face lifelong chains in temples True Ahimsa demands an end to their suffering @assamforest @moefcc #GandhiJayanti #NoElephantsInTemples x.com/PFCII/status/210586701…
“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” — Mahatma Gandhi This Gandhi Jayanthi, let us remember that compassion is not just a word. Bijuli. Rupsingh. Durga. Shiva. Hiralal. Five young elephants. Five lives that deserve dignity, freedom and protection. If we truly believe in Ahimsa, there can be no place for suffering, fear and lifelong chains. On Gandhi Jayanthi, we ask: Why the chains? Why the captivity? Why should elephants be in temples? Let their lives remind us that our humanity is measured by how we treat the voiceless. Hypocrisy and secrecy of the Assam government Wildlife experts and welfare groups are raising serious questions over the transfer of five elephants to Tamil Nadu. Assam deserves answers: 1. Were five elephants from Assam donated, purchased, or otherwise acquired? If money changed hands, how much, and who paid whom? 2. Who initiated the process, and how were these five elephants selected? 3. If the owners could not care for them, why send them 3,000 km away? Can Assam not care for its own elephants? 4. Durga and Bijuli are around five years old. Who are their mothers, and what documented chain of custody establishes their lawful provenance? 5. The Assam government told the Court all clearances had been obtained. Where are they? Did the High-Powered Committee examine the transfers? 6. Madurai’s facility was reportedly inspected on the same day the transfer was recommended. Was there sufficient scrutiny? 7. Were all prescribed veterinary and welfare safeguards followed during transit? 8. Following the allegations of abuse involving Joymala, have we learnt nothing? Elephants are woven into Assam’s culture and heritage. Their movement out of the state must not be shrouded in unanswered questions. Bring the five elephants back. Make all records public: ownership, age, provenance, permits, clearances, approvals, and payments.

Assam’s elephants need to be in Assam in their natural habitat and eco-system with their family.
The transfer of five young captive elephants from Assam to Tamil Nadu temples has triggered mounting questions over their ownership, provenance and the circumstances under which they were moved, including claims that some of the elephants described as “donated” may have actually been purchased by Tamil Nadu religious institutions. TAKE ACTION 🙏🙏🙏 🆘🐘🆘🐘🆘🐘🆘🐘🆘 PLEASE - HERE IS THE CONTACT INFO TO THE RESPONSIBLE PEOPLE - who took 5 young baby elephants (who need their mothers until they are 16 - to lifetime - they form extremely strong loving and advaced social bonds with their family and herd) from their mothers to inprison them in hellish conditions - temples of animal abuse for life. LET’S NOT GIVE UP UNTIL THEY ARE REUNITED WITH THEIR MOTHERS!!! - Five young elephants transferred from Assam to Tamil Nadu temples (September 2026) They were moved ~3,000 km by road as “gifts” of privately owned captive elephants (commercial sale is illegal). Activists question ownership, (either way - you can never ”own” an elephant - it’s enslavement and absurd) possible wild origins (caught wild from their mothers), the long journeys 7 days in ropes and chaines on a truck 3000 km from their homes in Assam, and lifelong welfare, they will live in extreme suffering for about 60 years. Elephants & destinations: •Durga (~5, female) → Meenakshi Amman Temple, Madurai •Hiralal (~8, male) & Shiva (~6, male) → Arunachaleswarar Temple, Tiruvannamalai •Rupsing (~13, male) → Sri Vaidyanatha Swamy Temple, Vaitheeswaran Koil •Bijuli (~5, female) → Kanchi Kamakoti Gajashala, Kancheepuram Temple contacts •Meenakshi Amman, Madurai: 0452-2344360 | jceomdu_31962.hrce@tn.gov.in | maduraimeenakshi.hrce.tn.gov… •Arunachaleswarar, Tiruvannamalai: 04175-252438 | arunachaleswarar@tnhrce.com | annamalaiyar.hrce.tn.gov.in •Vaitheeswaran Koil: ~04364-279423 | info@vaitheeswarankoilgurukkal.com •Kanchi Kamakoti, Kancheepuram: 044-27222115 | kanchimutt@gmail.com | kamakoti.org | X: @KanchiMatham How it works & welfare:
Young elephants are separated from mothers, trained through intense torture for compliance, then kept in short chaines on hard floors, isolated, and used for rituals/blessings. This causes chronic stress (swaying, etc.) for decades. Their entire lives are confined in extreme suffering. No animal-welfare motive drives these moves—”tradition” and prestige do. Mechanical elephants are a cruelty-free alternative already used in some temples. Temple monetary gains:
Elephants attract more pilgrims and donations, boosting overall revenue (major TN temples already earn ₹40–60+ crore yearly from offerings and tourism). Prestige and festival appeal attract publicity from an uneducated public audience. THIS NEEDS TO END NOW!! FREE THE ELEPHANT BABIES. RETURN THEM TO THEIR MOTHERS.

See the couple posing with five-year-old Durga at Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple? Krishnamurthy Vaidyanathan alias Judicial Krishnamurthy and Anuradha Krishnamurthy , who both are Tamil Iyers with standing membership in major temple trusts and boards, including Tirupati Balaji and the Purva Tirupati Balaji Mandir Trust at Betkuchi, Guwahati. Anuradha visited Assam twice last month and organised the movement of five young elephants from Assam to Tamil Nadu temples. Durga was taken from the Manas area on the night of 7 September and travelled nearly 3,000 km in six days. Krishnamurthy is said to have secured bail for Amit Shah through Justice Sadasivam (also an Iyer). The contact ran through Kanchi Sankara Mutt. A “gift” or a well-connected transfer of Assam’s elephants under cover of darkness? Ownership papers, age verification, High-Powered Committee clearance, and commercial versus donation claims remain unanswered on this illegal Wildlife transfer. The silent exodus of Assam’s elephants must stop!!!

END ALL ELEPHANT SLAVERY EVERYWHERE NOW @PMOIndia @ndtvindia @NDTVWorld @ndtv @BBCWorld @cnni @CMOfficeAssam @assamforest Elephants stand among the most psychologically rich and emotionally profound beings on Earth. Their minds are finely tuned for connection: large, intricate brains support extraordinary memory, self-awareness, empathy, and the capacity to understand the feelings and needs of others. They recognize themselves, form lifelong attachments, and navigate a social world built on trust, cooperation, and care that spans generations. Their communication is a living language of the heart and the land. Soft rumbles that travel for kilometres through air and earth, gentle trunk caresses, scent that carries individual identity, and subtle gestures all weave a constant web of presence. Recent discoveries reveal they even invent unique, non-imitative “names” for one another—calling out to specific loved ones across the distance, and answering when their own name is spoken. In this way an entire family stays emotionally linked even when scattered across the savanna. At the centre of their lives are the family and the herd. Matriarchs carry decades of hard-won wisdom about water, danger, and kinship. Sisters, aunts, grandmothers, and older sisters raise the calves together in a circle of shared devotion. When a young one is orphaned, the group does not abandon it; another female steps forward as allomother, offering protection, comfort, and guidance. Distressed companions are met with quiet reassurance—trunks that stroke, bodies that press close, soft vocalisations that soothe. When death comes, family members linger, touch the body with infinite tenderness, sometimes cover it with earth or branches, and return later to the place of loss. These are not isolated acts; they are the natural expression of a society organised around love, continuity, and mutual responsibility. Set beside this, the record of our own species can feel stark. Humans have perfected systems of exploitation—of one another, of other animals, and of the living world itself. Wars, slavery, industrial-scale cruelty, the reduction of sentient beings to resources, the prioritising of individual gain over collective well-being, and the casual infliction of suffering for power, profit, or convenience stand in painful contrast to the elephants’ steady ethic of care. Where elephant society expands the circle of belonging, human history is littered with the deliberate narrowing of that circle, the elevation of ego, and the willingness to treat both kin and strangers as expendable. Elephants remind us that complexity of mind need not lead to domination. Their lives show that intelligence can flower into deep loyalty, patient nurturance, and a quiet, enduring tenderness toward those with whom one shares the long journey.
LOOK AT LITTLE SHIVA. Said to be just 6 years old, this tiny elephant is one of 5 baby elephants brought from Assam to Tamil Nadu temples. Shiva is now at the Thiruvannamalai temple. But how old is Shiva really? His age, provenance, parentage, microchip, DNA and ownership records must be independently verified. Durga: 3,000+ km in ~6 days to Madurai. Shiva: 3,000+ km in ~9 days to Tamil Nadu. These babies are being transported thousands of kilometres for temple confinement, raising serious concerns about welfare, provenance, ownership and legality. The floodgates have opened, thanks to the role of traders, brokers and intermediaries, and the ownership, surrender and approval processes have been manipulated or misused. And now, look at how little Shiva is being handled. Sticks and weapons are reportedly being used to intimidate him, while he is dragged by both ears. This is the pinnacle of cruelty. How can this be called “better upkeep” when the stated reason for gifting these babies to temples was that their so-called owners could no longer provide better care? APPEAL TO THE HON’BLE CHIEF MINISTER OF TAMIL NADU @CMOTamilnadu @actorvijay Please intervene immediately. Ensure independent due diligence into all five elephants and verify their age, DNA, microchip, parentage, provenance, ownership history, surrender records and money trail. Please investigate who facilitated these transfers and stop any further movement of baby elephants into Tamil Nadu. And most importantly, please explore every lawful possibility of returning these babies to Assam and reuniting them with their mothers and natural social groups. They are babies. They belong with their families—not in temple confinement. SAVE SHIVA. SAVE DURGA. SAVE THE OTHER BABIES. REUNITE THEM WITH THEIR MOTHERS. #SaveShiva #SaveDurga #SaveElephants #WhyTheChains #NoElephantsInTemples

🚨🐘💔😭 LOOK AT LITTLE SHIVA - HOW CAN THIS BE CALLED “BETTER CARE” ? 📍 Location: Thiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu, India 🇮🇳 Just 6 years old, Shiva is one of five young elephants brought from Assam to Tamil Nadu temples. But who independently verified his age, parentage, DNA, microchip, provenance and ownership records? 🐘 Durga: 3,000+ km to Madurai in 6 days 🐘 Shiva: 3,000+ km to Tamil Nadu in 9 days Thousands of kilometres away from Assam, these babies are being placed in temple captivity, raising serious questions about welfare, legality, provenance and ownership. 💔 😭 Even more disturbing: footage reportedly shows little Shiva being dragged by both ears, while sticks or other objects are allegedly used to intimidate him. This demands an immediate animal-welfare investigation. Who facilitated these transfers❓ Were surrender, ownership and transport records properly verified❓ Where are the independent veterinary, DNA, microchip and provenance checks❓ Why are baby elephants being transported thousands of kilometres instead of protecting their natural family and social bonds ❓ 🚨 AUTHORITIES MUST ACT NOW: ✅ Independently verify all five elephants’ age, DNA, microchip, parentage and provenance. ✅ Audit ownership, surrender, transfer and approval records. ✅ Investigate the alleged handling and intimidation of Shiva. ✅ Identify all traders, brokers and intermediaries involved. ✅ Preserve the original footage, CCTV and documentary evidence. ✅ Stop further transfers. ✅ Explore every lawful possibility of returning the babies to Assam and reuniting them with their mothers and natural social groups. They are babies, not commodities. Their family bonds matter. 🐘 SAVE SHIVA. SAVE DURGA. 🐘💔 A MOTHER’S LOVE BELONGS TO NO SINGLE SPECIES 😭💔 An elephant mother doesn’t simply give birth to her calf. She protects her, raises her, guides her and teaches her how to survive with her herd. When a calf is forcibly separated from her mother and family, it is not just a relocation. it is the breaking of a profound mother–calf bond. A human mother or an elephant mother - the pain of losing a child is still the pain of a mother. 💔 And anyone - 👉🏻 a judge, priest, spiritual leader, politician or authority - who supports or enables such separation must remember: ✅ Nature does not recognise human convenience as compassion. ✅ Tradition cannot justify unnecessary suffering. ✅ An elephant is not a religious object or entertainment prop. ✅ No calf should lose her mother for human interests. A system may try to justify it, but nature does not forget a mother’s tears. Durga needs her family, not chains. Freedom, not captivity. Compassion, not separation. 🐘❤️ @CMOTamilnadu @CMOfficeAssam @assamforest @tnforestdept @moefcc @AwbiBallabhgarh @PMOIndia @narendramodi @WildlifeSOS @PetaIndia @TheJohnAbraham @TheRupali @SwatiJaiHind @RenukaCCongress @priyankac19 #WhyTheChains #SaveDurga #NoElephantsInTemples #StopElephantCaptivity #LetElephantsLiveFree #AmendPCA

She could face decades of captivity. @CTR_Nirmalkumar @RameshOffcl Hon Ministers, We heard your statement that her transfer was legal. But please investigate further: Why were 5 elephants from individual owners transferred to TN temples around the same time? What is the ownership history, provenance and documentation of each elephant? Who facilitated these transfers? Who benefits?
