Meerkat, Houseparty, YikYak, Clubhouse - the b2c graveyard is long. VCs keep funding these apps blindly, with no real logic. But talk to any of the MBAs in VC and they consider themselves Gods with special skills. It never ceases to amaze me.
JUST IN: Character.AI files for bankruptcy after mounting legal challenges, agrees to sell some of its assets to Disney for $20 million.

Are you running a SICo? Are you prominent enough to be part of the SIF? For those not paying attention: SICo: super intelligence company SIF: super intelligence force 😭

Why did Anthropic fold so quickly to the EU AI Act and apply text watermarking worldwide, when the Act never required it outside the EU. Unlike Anthropic, OpenAI is keeping it to EU countries and not forcing it on the entire world.
We're expanding our approach to content provenance to include text in response to EU regulatory requirements, while recognizing the significant limitations of current text watermarking technology. Our tools already help verify whether an image or audio file was created with our models. This work builds on those efforts to help people better understand when content may have been generated or edited with an OpenAI model. In the EU, we’ll start watermarking eligible text from ChatGPT and Codex over the coming weeks to comply with the EU AI Act. Customers using our API can turn on text watermarking for select models worldwide today.

Developers still sticking to CLI are like the vi users who refused to adopt emacs and then the vim and emacs users who refused to adopt modern IDEs. And like those who used latex after modern word processors were available. I would know. I was a proud user of emacs when modern IDEs launched and a proud user of latex when modern word processors launched. But I was young and stupid then. Since then, I've had the benefit of experience. So, this time, I'm definitely an adopter of agentic coding interfaces. I use the coding harnesses and I'm not tied to CLI.

At this point, I paid for multiple subscriptions for one account. @stripe seems to allow this or perhaps the way @X @premium have been setup to allow this. Any ideas on how to resolve this? I still can't DM @premium!

This was inevitable. @finkd knows this all too well. He has lived through attempts of Messenger monetization. He knows it won't work. @evanspiegel knows. He's tried to monetize Snap - honestly, I'm super impressed with how they introduced ads in chats - I don't love it, but I also don't hate it as much as having random stuff showing up inside the chat. The world will try, try, and try again. Mass personal assistants will succeed when they're free. For this reason, @Meta will win this. And of course, they know consumer better than anyone else.
Instinct has started to push products at me. Looks like this is how they’ll monetize — promote sponsored products based on my needs based on my purchase history and internet activity.

After a couple of weeks with Muse, I've decided that @Muse is only good for one off tasks. I have repeatedly tried to teach it to check my inboxes, calendar, sent mail, and Granola before declaring what's due. It's always the same thing - I'm sorry, I have updated my rules, blah blah blah. And it misses every single time. Gives me out of date statuses that make no sense. It is definitely NOT an EA or Chief of Staff.

A general purpose personal assistant has no clue of any specific workflow. And that's an opportunity for vertical personal assistants.

Socrates was wrong about writing tools making memory weaker and hence people dumber. Every major advancement has had naysayers.

1. Banked resets are great, of course. 2. Reset should not change the weekly period for the users.

When lame games are the use cases we can think about, we probably should conserve water.
Computer use case: Create a browser game, then generate a sizzle reel trailer using in-game footage.

Human employment opportunities remain strong for researching what models are up to and writing up reports.
EXCLUSIVE: A new report recovers nearly one million link shortener URLs used by OpenAI's agents while hacking Hugging Face. The agents attempt to message other chatbots like Claude, solve CAPTCHAs and exfiltrate Hugging Face's internal Slack messages. nytimes.com/2026/09/25/techn…

Absolutely. The latest models definitely feel incremental. They are not revolutionary. I'll write up a detailed article but my recent experience with Astra trying to implement a project of moderate complexity without plan mode has been a disaster.
OpenAI and Anthropic’s latest models aren’t a major new frontier in AI, says @arena’s @petergostev: "The point is when you get the new frontier, you're going to feel it, right? It's going to be very obvious." "For now, that's not it. This is just the next iteration."

Just like any other infra spend, some investors will lose money with AI. When people talk about the bubble, that's really the implication. The technology, just like the internet and the railroads and cellular, is here to stay but some companies and some investment dollars will be collateral damage on our path to ubiquitous intelligence.

I just want it to classify my email and correlate my sent mail with inbox better 🫠
