The Opportunity Zone program has helped bring investments and jobs to communities across our state for the last eight years. Today, I signed H. 3305, the Supplemental Appropriations bill, into law. Earmarks have long been part of the budget process, and we have worked over the years to make the process for reviewing them more transparent and accountable to the taxpayers of South Carolina. That has been an ongoing process, and we have continued to strengthen the review of proposed earmarks before taxpayer dollars are committed.

This year’s budget reflects the priorities I have fought for throughout my time as Governor, with 92% of my recommendations included.
We’re cutting taxes, raising teacher pay, expanding access to 4K, freezing tuition, investing in our infrastructure, and protecting the natural resources that make South Carolina special.
This budget puts South Carolina in an even stronger position for the future. We’ve accomplished a great deal, and we’ll keep pushing for more.
