Grew up in Miami and was there for decades. The other day in an afluent neighborhood I saw a homeless guy sitting outside CVS with 2 toddlers offering car washes to try to get some cash. Never seen anything like that there.
Been in Ft. Lauderdale for 2 years and in the last 3-6 months I have seen a large increase in homeless people everywhere. Everyone I encounter seems tired/on edge.
Had an uber driver last week saying he can't get an apartment because his credit is cooked and his car got repo'd and is now renting a car from Uber (his second job after working at Publix) trying to provide for him and his daughter. He told me his goal is to work his way up to $5k saved. I am seeing more and more uber eats drivers delivering on E-bikes now.
Looking at videos on social media, more and more people doing stuff like living in their car, in storage units, homeless. People can't afford to keep up with their bills and can't get a job.
An entire generation (Gen-Z) is locked out of the labor market and can't get a job and completely giving up. Dating is completely cooked. People can't afford to be in relationships. Gen-Z is not drinking (can't afford $20-25 drinks).
If you have a job and make what was considered a normal salary it is impossible to save any money and if you have any debt and/or provide for a family the math makes it impossible to survive.
Seriously, this is the darkest I have ever seen society. It really seems like we are near a breaking point
I am genuinely shocked at how clueless people are on how fucked the economy is right now and talking about the market like everything is normal
What is going on
