I was on a joint ops with Olympus looking to establish OHM liquidity on Base as a base pair for Peapods’ new Green Arrow pods. This was after a stellar integration on mainnet.
The Peapods team said they were in talks with this team BMX and were going to deploy wBLT as a base pair.
I thought, “Hmmmm, that’s interesting- the Peapods team is pretty sharp and doesn’t consider just any token as a pairing asset, what is special about wBLT to pass this kind of due diligence?”
Then I saw index liquidity profile and said, “Man that’s interesting! It’s like a bespoke GLP but composable!” The only time I have seen composability here is with Jones’ jGLP but that only really lived on Camelot on Arbitrum in a smol liquidity pool.
Times goes by, we’re doing rapid ecosystem expansion on Mode. I’m talking to dozens of teams looking to come on through our DeFi Yield Accelerator, combing tokenomics in decks, while creating a tokenomics workshop myself to deliver to our eventual cohort to give them to the best chance to succeed. We interview really promising projects and builders and lots of energy in the air-
The theme of this time was all about DeFi yield, the lighthouse was up and shining and we were digging though the trenches looking to find the best ecosystem pieces.
The legend Bebis (from now Cod3x) from our eco understands this current mission and connects us with BMX.
As per standard procedure, “GMs” followed by diving into the docs.
That was the moment. The Docs. I thought, “Whomever wrote these docs understands this at a level I have rarely seen. They GET the vision of liquidity composability and thermodynamics of fees and incentive flows. They understand the end game.”
I could not WAIT to get on a call. That’s when I met Meow and Morph. The energy matched the docs and some… Of course we started with war stories, but later Meow spoke with such a clear vision and rattled off mechanisms and future plans as if they were certainty- not a matter of if, but when. Felt like listening to Elon giving a tour on the floor of SpaceX talking about rocket engines and how people will operate on Mars.
That was it. I was sold when I read the docs. I was pilled when I met the humans with the conviction and consistent track record of building in the trenches.
I knew this product, stacking useful services on top of autocompounding, composable liquidity wasn’t just a powerhouse protocol, but could be a baseplate for entire chains.
The ultimate plug and play, concentrating all firepower on one composable asset that could be the liquidity plumbing underneath an entire burgeoning city.
So joint integration ensued, I was helping build an ecosystem and found the ultimate DeFi infrastructure piece to help existing protocols struggling with fractured liquidity to ideally gain a central stronghold (wMLT).
Since then storylines and parallel universes diverged, but the core component always remained.
The BMX protocol vision isn’t just something you forget about if an existing inertia is disrupted. It’s a vision and architecture that demands to be built in an age of endless emissions, airdrop rotators, and short-sighted apathetic false-acceptances of “crypto is just a casino”.
The DeFi class of 2021 will not go quietly into the night, and BMX is one of many teams building tight value accrual systems. I look forward to each and every single one of them having their day in the sun. You know who you are. Continuing to build alongside elite teams is undefeated.. and what an incredible pleasure to build in an industry with such composability that enables true collaboration to flourish.
Thank you for the energy Tanker. Really do appreciate the time you take to support builders with your consistent and even-keeled enthusiasm. 🕊️
