At eighty-six years old she started sitting in at segregated lunch counters in Washington DC. Three years later she had desegregated every restaurant in the capital of the United States. Mary Church Terrell. She was born during the Civil War to formerly enslaved parents, and by the 1890s was one of the most prominent Black women in America — a founder of the National Association of Colored Women, a founding member of the NAACP. Then in 1949, at eighty-six, she found something in the law library. Washington had passed laws in 1872 and 1873 making it illegal for restaurants to refuse "any respectable, well-behaved person" on account of race. The laws had never been repealed. They had simply been left out of the city code and forgotten for seventy-five years. She decided to enforce them. She walked into Thompson's Restaurant with three companions in February 1950, was refused, and sued. While the case ground through the courts she ran the campaign herself: picketing in the winter at eighty-seven and eighty-eight years old, leading boycotts, standing outside stores with a placard. In June 1953 the Supreme Court ruled the lost laws were still valid. Washington's restaurants desegregated. She died the following year at ninety. She found a dead law in a book, picked it up, and used it to open a city. Nobody had looked for seventy-five years.

I think one angle people are missing in the analysis is that every Nigerian household runs like a “Local Government Council,” fending for themselves and covering almost all the responsibilities of their government.

I bought fuel yesterday in Toronto, Canada, at $1.7999 CAD per litre, and it cost about $98.95 CAD to fill up my tank. This should ideally last me about a week or more. Now, the minimum wage in Canada is $17.95 CAD per hour, which means someone who works an average of 8 hours a day will earn $143.60 CAD before tax. A day's salary is enough to fuel his or her car for 2–3 weeks. This means that even one of the lowest earners in Canada can afford to own and drive a car daily without the cost of fuel becoming an overwhelming burden. Public education for children is also free and of high quality. In Nigeria, fuel is about ₦1,300 per litre. It would cost about ₦88,000 to fill up a similar tank. The minimum wage in Nigeria is ₦70,000 per month. This means that an entire month's minimum wage cannot even fill the tank once. A minimum-wage earner in Nigeria cannot realistically afford to own, fuel, and maintain a car. The same person still has to afford food, rent, children's education, healthcare, electricity, transportation, and other basic necessities. The list goes on. In fact, even a bank manager in Nigeria earning ₦1 million monthly could still struggle to maintain a decent standard of living after covering these basic expenses. This is one reason poverty is so widespread in Nigeria. The cost of basic living is simply too high relative to what the average person earns. You don't just have an income problem in Nigeria. You have an affordability problem. For millions of Nigerians, simply living a decent life has become too expensive and increasingly impossible.

Before you spend your money on any laptop, here are things most people never check until it is too late: 1. Refurbished is not the same as fairly used: Refurbished laptops have been professionally restored and tested. Fairly used laptops are second hand with unknown history. Both can be good buys but they are not the same thing. Know which one you are getting. 2. SSD beats HDD every time A laptop with a Solid State Drive opens in seconds. A laptop with a Hard Disk Drive takes forever to boot and slows down over time. Always confirm which storage type you are getting before you pay. SSD is non-negotiable in 2026. 3. Check the processor generation Intel Core i5 or i7 from the 10th generation upward is a solid range. Anything below 8th generation is outdated. For AMD, Ryzen 5 or Ryzen 7 is the equivalent. The generation tells you more about performance than the brand name. 4. Battery life on the spec sheet is a lie: Manufacturers test battery life under ideal conditions that never match real world use. A laptop claiming 10 hours typically delivers 5 to 6 hours under normal usage. Check independent reviews before you trust any battery claim. 5. Confirm the display resolution: 720p displays look washed out and cheap in 2026. Go for 1080p Full HD minimum. If you work with graphics, photos, or video, push for 1440p or higher. 6. Check the ports before you buy: Many slim laptops sacrifice ports for aesthetics. If you need HDMI, USB-A, an SD card slot, or an ethernet port, confirm they are physically on the laptop before buying. Buying adapters and dongles after the fact is expensive and annoying. 7. Warranty is not optional: Always confirm the warranty period and what it covers before you pay. A one year warranty minimum from a verified seller. Avoid laptops sold without any warranty documentation. 8. RAM matters more than the brand name: A 4GB RAM laptop will frustrate you in 2026. Minimum 8GB for smooth everyday use. 16GB if you are into design, video editing, coding, or running multiple apps at once. Do not let anyone sell you 4GB and call it a good deal. The best laptop is not always the most expensive one. It is the one that matches what you actually need it for. Above all, love God.

Not just rich men, many beautiful girls are also not attractive once you get to know them Because they believe their beauty affords them the liberty to be anyhow and still get a pass Generally in Nigeria, we don’t encourage people building strong qualities and personality
