Fear is a tax on your potential. Building Daily Courage to abolish The Fear Tax. Ex-Netflix & Apple.

San Francisco, CA
Fear is a tax on potential. It stops people from living lives they’re capable of. Fear of failure. Fear of rejection. Fear of people’s opinions. They’re all taxes on potential. I’m building a company to eliminate the fear tax. This is my life’s work.

Courage is a muscle. Get your reps in daily.
Your brain may have a region for doing hard things. The anterior mid-cingulate cortex is linked to persistence and willingness to exert effort. Aerobic exercise may even increase its volume.

Fear is a tax on your potential.
Focus on where you want to go, not on what you fear.

Fear is a tax on your potential.
The hardest lesson NFL MVP Steve Young ever had to learn. "Fear-based thinking is a liar. I was afraid of failure, so much so that I paid this price so that I could have success. I learned as an older person, that's a fallacy. That's fraudulent." "I'm not going to pay for success with my worry and fretting. Man, fame is a thief. Fear-based thinking is a thief. There's a lot of thieves in life."

Fear is the only expense every business has that doesn’t explicitly show up as a line item on a P&L. Ego. Avoidance. Indecisiveness. Passive aggressiveness. It’s all fear.
Nine times out of ten, solving for speed is the correct decision. And the bigger the org, the more it will try and solve for “error free” and in so doing create the largest error of all - irrelevance.

The only thing holding you back is believing you need to eliminate fear before taking action.

There is unlimited supply of people with big ideas but extremely limited supply of people with courage to take on those ideas The older you grow, the more you realize that courage and willingness to fail for long periods of time matter much more than intellect

Great example of how fear stops us from getting the most out of life. The ego seeks to protect itself at all costs, and the ego is largely rooted in the fear of inadequacy and the fear of loss of control. Fear is a tax on our potential.
Most people understand the importance of asking for help in a life-or-death crisis. But in our personal and professional lives, Americans are encouraged to pursue rugged individualism over interdependency.

The only difference between a ditch and a grave is how long you stay there.
Something I noticed about resilient people: They don't have fewer problems. They have faster reset times. Bad news hits at 9am. By 10am, they're back to their priorities. They feel it, process it, and move. The speed of the reset matters more than the size of the setback.
