As OSCE Chairman-in-Office, I met Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at the UN in New York. We took stock of the Swiss OSCE Chairmanship following my visit to Moscow in February and discussed the way forward for our OSCE agenda.

Good exchange with Ukrainian FM @andrii_sybiha at #UNGA81 in New York. We discussed the situation on the ground and the #OSCE’s role in addressing Russia’s war against #Ukraine. I reaffirmed #Switzerland’s solidarity with the Ukrainian people and our readiness to support a diplomatic solution.

Good to meet FM @onduhungirehe again. 🇨🇭🇷🇼 relations have gained strong momentum in recent years, marked by the opening of our Embassy in Kigali in 2025. We discussed opportunities to deepen our cooperation, including in digitalisation, as well as the situation in eastern DRC and #Switzerland’s efforts in support of peace.

A pleasure to reconnect with Mukhtar Tileuberdi, Foreign Minister of #Kazakhstan, today at #UNGA81 in New York. We discussed 🇨🇭🇰🇿 bilateral relations, the challenges facing the #OSCE, and the role of Kazakhstan in particular and Central Asia more broadly within the organisation.

Always a pleasure to meet Foreign Minister @VivianBala. We discussed Al and its opportunities and challenges for our societies, as well as ways to further deepen 🇨🇭🇸🇬cooperation ahead of 60 years of diplomatic relations and #Singapore's ASEAN presidency in 2027.

Pleased to meet 🇨🇴 Vice President @jrestrp and Foreign Minister Omar Bula for the first time. We discussed economic cooperation, peace and security, and ways to further strengthen the partnership between #Switzerland and #Colombia.

Good exchange with Iraqi FM Fuad Hussein on the situation in Iraq and the region. #Switzerland supports a stable Iraq and efforts towards de-escalation in and around the Strait of Hormuz. We remain available to facilitate dialogue and advance regional diplomacy. We also discussed #Iraq's domestic priorities and the security challenges ahead.

Insecurity and instability in the Sahel affect people across the region, neighboring countries, and partners in West Africa and Europe. To rebuild #trust, renew #dialogue and seek joint responses to the crisis, I met alongside my 🇩🇪 and 🇮🇹 counterparts with the FM of 🇧🇫 Burkina Faso, 🇲🇱 Mali and 🇳🇪 Niger.

Met with FM Abbas @Araghchi in New York. We discussed in detail the geopolitical balance in the #MiddleEast. #Switzerland is deeply concerned about escalating tensions and their impact on peace and security. The region’s stability is also our stability. Our priority is clear: prevent further escalation, keep diplomatic channels open and work towards a negotiated solution. 🇨🇭 stands ready to offer its good offices wherever useful.

Good exchange with US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Brendan Hanrahan. We discussed Switzerland’s 2026 Chairpersonship of the #OSCE, the challenges facing European security and the need to make the Organization more effective and fit for purpose.

Substantive meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze at #UNGA81 in New York. We discussed 🇨🇭–🇬🇪 bilateral relations, opportunities to strengthen economic cooperation, and the geopolitical and economic situation in the South Caucasus, including regional stability and connectivity. We also exchanged views on the #OSCE and the importance of strengthening dialogue, cooperation and security across the region. I look forward to visiting Georgia soon.

I met my good friend, #India’s FM @DrSJaishankar. We discussed the unprecedented momentum in 🇨🇭–🇮🇳 bilateral relations, regional developments, and the first anniversary of the entry into force of the Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement. We exchanged views on current geopolitical developments, the road ahead, and ongoing diplomatic efforts for peace.

First Joint Ministerial Meeting between the Gulf Cooperation Council 🇧🇭 🇰🇼 🇴🇲 🇶🇦 🇸🇦 🇦🇪 and 🇨🇭since the signing of an MoU establishing a consultation mechanism earlier this year. We agreed to give fresh impetus to our cooperation. We discussed the region’s geopolitical situation, including developments around the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, as well as the importance of safeguarding freedom of navigation. #Dialogue remains essential for #security and #peace: the region’s stability is vital to global stability and to Switzerland.

Today, I also met with 🇪🇬 FM @EgyptForeignMin. #Egypt is a key partner for #Switzerland, bilaterally and for peace and stability in the region. We discussed developments in Gaza, the Red Sea and Sudan, as well as our growing cooperation on trade, migration, development and cultural relations.
