#Cyprus 🇨🇾, as co-chair of the UN Group of Friends of Culture, along with 🇪🇬, 🇲🇽, 🇮🇹, 🇦🇪, organized a PR-level meeting of the GoF focusing on Culture and AI. Cyprus reaffirmed the importance of the GoF as a platform for stronger cooperation and a collective voice for culture at the UN. 🤖🎨 In relation to Culture and AI, Cyprus stressed that as AI transforms how culture is created, technological progress must remain human-centred, promote cultural and linguistic diversity, and support human creativity.

Η σημερινή επίσκεψη του Γενικού Γραμματέα των Ηνωμένων Εθνών, Αντόνιο Γκουτέρες @antonioguterres, η πρώτη μετά από 16 χρόνια, αποτελεί μια στιγμή ιδιαίτερης πολιτικής και ιστορικής σημασίας για την πατρίδα μας. Τον Γενικό Γραμματέα υποδέχθηκε ο Πρόεδρος της Δημοκρατίας @PresidentCYP @Christodulides σε μια επίσκεψη υψηλού συμβολισμού, η οποία εντάσσεται στις προσπάθειες για τη δημιουργία των προϋποθέσεων που θα επιτρέψουν τη σύγκληση μιας διευρυμένης διάσκεψης και την επανέναρξη των διαπραγματεύσεων από το σημείο όπου διακόπηκαν στο Κραν Μοντανά το 2017. Με ρεαλισμό και πλήρη επίγνωση των δυσκολιών και των προκλήσεων, η Κυπριακή Δημοκρατία συνεχίζει να αξιοποιεί κάθε διπλωματική πρωτοβουλία, με στόχο την επίτευξη μιας βιώσιμης και λειτουργικής λύσης του Κυπριακού, στη βάση των σχετικών ψηφισμάτων των Ηνωμένων Εθνών και του ευρωπαϊκού κεκτημένου. Μετά τη δήλωση του Γενικού Γραμματέα των Ηνωμένων Εθνών, Αντόνιο Γκουτέρες, με την οποία εξέφρασε την πρόθεσή του να συνεχίσει κάθε προσπάθεια για την επανέναρξη των συνομιλιών στο Κυπριακό, παρατέθηκε ιδιωτικό δείπνο στην οικία του Ειδικού Αντιπροσώπου του Γενικού Γραμματέα του ΟΗΕ για το Κυπριακό, όπου παρέστησαν ο Πρόεδρος της Δημοκρατίας, Νίκος Χριστοδουλίδης, και ο Τ/Κ ηγέτης. Προσερχόμενος στο δείπνο, ο Πρόεδρος της Δημοκρατίας εξέφρασε την ευχή και την ελπίδα η αποψινή συζήτηση με τον Γενικό Γραμματέα των Ηνωμένων Εθνών και τον Τ/Κ ηγέτη να είναι εξίσου καλή και παραγωγική με τη συζήτηση που είχε με τον κ. Γκουτέρες το πρωί.

52 years since the Turkish invasion of #Cyprus. Turkey continues to illegally occupy 37% of 🇨🇾, in flagrant violation of international law and the Charter of the UN. We remain steadfast in our efforts to reunify 🇨🇾, based on the relevant UNSC resolutions, international law and the EU acquis.

During the Fourth UN High-Level Conference of Heads of Counter-Terrorism Agencies, #Cyprus 🇨🇾 reaffirmed its commitment to a comprehensive, human rights-based approach to countering terrorism. As EU COTER Presidency, Cyprus highlighted the importance of multilateral cooperation, international partnerships, and coordinated action to strengthen global security and address the root causes of terrorism.
