«Πιστεύω, στη βάση των όσων έχω ακούσει, των όσων έχουμε συζητήσει, ότι, ναι, είναι μια εφικτή εξέλιξη, αν υπάρχει πολιτική βούληση», ανέφερε ο Πρόεδρος της Δημοκρατίας @PresidentCYP @Christodulides, μετά τη συνάντησή του στη Νέα Υόρκη με τον Γενικό Γραμματέα των Ηνωμένων Εθνών @antonioguterres. Ο Πρόεδρος εξέφρασε την ικανοποίησή του για μια πολύ καλή συνάντηση και για τη θετική υποδοχή από τον ΓΓ των ΗΕ των νέων ιδεών που υποβλήθηκαν σε θέματα ουσίας, μεθοδολογίας και Μέτρων Οικοδόμησης Εμπιστοσύνης. Η ενεργότερη εμπλοκή της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης παραμένει κλειδί σε αυτή τη μεγάλη προσπάθεια, με τον ΓΓ των ΗΕ να έχει συζητήσει διεξοδικά το Κυπριακό με την Πρόεδρο της Ευρωπαϊκής Επιτροπής και τον Πρόεδρο του Ευρωπαϊκού Συμβουλίου. Ο Πρόεδρος ενημέρωσε τον ΓΓ ότι είναι έτοιμος να παρατείνει την παραμονή του στη Νέα Υόρκη, εφόσον ο ίδιος το κρίνει αναγκαίο, ώστε να υπάρξει κοινή συνάντηση. Αναφέρθηκε και στην ισχυρή δέσμευση του ΓΓ των ΗΕ να υπάρξουν εξελίξεις, με στόχο την επανέναρξη των διαπραγματεύσεων πριν από την ολοκλήρωση της θητείας του, επισημαίνοντας ότι ο ΓΓ εργάζεται προς αυτή την κατεύθυνση.

We reviewed the next steps in our bilateral relations, and our cooperation in the multilateral context.
