I read a MUFON UFO Journal last night before bed and came across the most insane story involving radium. ☢️ There was this UFO investigator named John Ford and his friend Joseph Mazzuchelli that liked to investigate UFO activity around Long Island. Ford claimed he investigated an alleged UFO crash at Southaven Park in 1992. There were witnesses who reportedly had seen something go down near the park and Ford became convinced that authorities had recovered the craft but were just covering up its existence. He started accusing local officials of being involved including a man named John Powell, who was the head of the Suffolk County Republican Party. Ford believed Powell was involved in this alleged UFO cover up and the two ended up having a pretty serious feud over it. Anyways, in 1996 Ford and Mazzuchelli were arrested after authorities accused them of plotting to poison Powell and other local officials with…radium. A third man by the name of Edward Zabo was also accused of being the one to supply the radium to them. Authorities actually did end up finding radium in Ford’s possession. Prosecutors alleged that they planned to use it to poison the victims, including putting it in Powell’s food and according to later reports, his toothpaste as well. Mazzuchelli eventually pleaded guilty to conspiracy and Ford was later found incompetent to stand trial.
