Happy Father’s Day!
A little golf story to cleanse the timeline:
My dad and grandfather, who we called Pop, taught me how to play when I was a kid
Talking 1,000+ hours spent with both of them on the course as a youngin
My mom stopped playing when we were born then picked it back up about 15 years later
Somehow, I only ever got to play one round with my dad, my mom, and Pop all together
Pop was nearing the end of his life at the time so going out with them was about as special of a day on the course as it gets
And in that one round, I got a hole-in-one
Pop golfed for 70 years and never got one. My dad still hasn’t either
I hit the shot but the memory has always felt like it was theirs too
I think about that round every Father’s Day
Reminds me how lucky we are when we get to make memories with our dads, grandfathers, and families while we still can
You never really know which ordinary day is going to become one of the stories you think about for the rest of your life
Best shot of my life, and somehow still not the best part of the round
RIP Pop and Happy Father's Day ❤️
