On June 15th, my cofounder,
@isaacbklein and I officially launched
@whooshwellness and
@BeyondWhoosh. We had a small round of funding and an idea we spent nearly a year working on. We believed (and still do) that the current Telehealth landscape was not doing enough to push the boundaries of access in a responsible way. There are a few cool exceptions, shout out Ageless, and I believe Enhanced may eventually figure it out, but thus far they have been pretty whack.
A big step for us was opening up our current infrastructure to over 60 small businesses, as it showed us pain points with the current landscape, what people actually want in Telehealth, and of course is allowing for us to scale rapidly (in turn drive down cost to customers, while also increasing margins, because despite what the haters say, there is no 10x markup, we pay high pricing to compound compliantly, and on average see 20%-25% blended margin post-discounts). That is now being built out into a real business for us, launching this week:
whoosh.health. It will be where we run our first paid ad. The B2B product is not yet its best version, but someone told us to start selling your service before it's ready, and it has allowed for us to now make strides towards building a proper solution.
On the D2C front, we wanted to build this into something that wasn't lame, and did not want to try to compete with HIMS or Bryan Johnson, and their endless piles of money. We have taken strides to test this out on Beyond Whoosh, but are far from where we are planning to go. We have been blown away by the organic growth, and are excited to take the next steps with more aggressive growth tactics in Q1. We will be rolling out our new platform early November. New treatments, blood panels, hormones, and of course all of the current suite of Peptides and more. We will build Whoosh into a proper Ecom experience with bundles, stack-based discounts, and multi-treatment checkout.
Friction and price are the problem; we intend to solve for them both.
I want to use X as a bit of a log for building a modern telehealth platform, documenting the ups and downs, talking about fundraising and other growth efforts, opening up a public feedback loop and building a presence where we think a lot of the next chapter of "bio hacking" will unfold as we continue to reach the mainstream beyond just GLP-1s. I'm blasting these tweet off to my 400 followers to hold myself accountable, not because I think anyone cares. Hopefully, as Whoosh continues to grow and find its identity, this will get more interesting and actually be helpful for others looking to build similar or completely different businesses.
