A lot of you from outside Ireland are probably hearing about the Garvaghy Road and wondering what all the fuss is about.
1998 -
After the parade was banned from marching on the Garvaghy Rd, ten Catholic churches were set on fire across Ulster in one night.
In the following days, loyalists attacked Catholic homes, schools and businesses. Multiple houses were petrol-bombed, resulting in the murder of 3 young boys, the Quinn brothers. Their home was targeted because their mother was Catholic.
She mother woke to the sound of her children screaming in fear and the house full of smoke. Sadly the boys, Jason, Mark and Richard, did not make it out.
Garfield Gilmour was sentenced to life in prison after he admitted to driving three members of a UVF unit to the house, but later that was reduced to manslaughter.
Johnny McKay and brothers Raymond and Ivan Parke were named by Gilmour as the killers, but were never charged because of a lack of evidence.
In the days following the murders, loyalist bands defied orders not to play music while marching passed the home of the Quinn boys grandmother.
Tonight, a court overturned an earlier ruling banning the parade from marching on the Garvaghy Road, crowds have gathered and confrontation now seems inevitable with that march set to go ahead early Sunday morning.
The courts allowing this march to go ahead is absolute madness!

The Irish Famine was not a talking point. It was a catastrophe.
Between 1845 and 1852 the potato crop failed year after year. A million people died of starvation and disease. Another million and more fled. Families walked to the ports with nothing. They boarded coffin ships.
They arrived in Glasgow, Liverpool and the slums of industrial Britain already half-dead, then took the jobs no one else wanted and lived in conditions that would now be called inhumane.
That is the Irish movement of people the leaflet wants to hijack. Starving neighbours from the next island, part of the same state, fleeing a blight and a relief system that failed them. They did not come with legal claims drafted in advance. They came because the alternative was death.
To flatten that history into “same as today’s asylum numbers” is not anti-racism. It is theft.
It uses the dead and the destitute of An Gorta Mór as a prop.
The Irish earned their place through work, intermarriage and generations of staying. Pretending the two stories are interchangeable insults the people who actually lived it.
Judge the man, not the slogan. Do not conscript the Famine.

It is the SNP leader of Glasgow writing to the SNP finance secretary.
She told them refugee homelessness was the most urgent issue in the city and one of the hardest public finance problems in Scotland.
Her words "an immediate threat to financial sustainability, public services and community cohesion."
They had the letter. That is awareness at the top.
What have the SNP done to fix their mess???
Glasgow faces a massively rising refugee homeless issue.
estimates began at £56 m for this year and go up to £93 million for 2028/29.

Serial mugger who repeatedly targets elderly women in Possilpark.
• June 2025: Followed 86-year-old Joan Hay (COPD, walking frame) as she left church, grabbed her by the shoulder and ripped her handbag so hard the strap snapped. Stole her purse with £150. She screamed for help. No one was there.
• 2020/2021: Mugged 89-year-old Mary Taylor on her own doorstep (£70). Days later robbed 66-year-old Jeanette Robinson. Also attacked at least one other woman. Jailed for two years.
• October 2025: Jailed again for two years. Sheriff Louise Arrol KC: “Prison has not acted as a deterrent for you. You are assessed as a high risk of reoffending.”
Same pattern. Same area. Same type of victim.

That’s long overdue. Use them to ease overcrowding and house local families first.
Locals just want their own protected and prioritised.
Stop leaving people living in fear of the unknown.

The father-of-4 from Afghanistan, has been jailed for just 7 years and is now apparently afraid he will be deported.
He wasn't so afraid of that when he decided to destroy the life of a young woman.
7 years is a PATHETIC sentence for his brutal attack and there should be absolutely no doubt he will be deported.
Women and girls are constantly told taxis are safer than walking home or public transport late at night. Not anymore. This attack adds to a never-ending list of taxi drivers, licensed or posing as one, who have targeted and attacked women just trying to get home. Horrific.

It’s totally anachronistic to call Celtic’s founders “anti-racist.”
The term would have meant nothing to people in the late 19th Century, and when Willie Maley said this, he was talking about what kind of footballers Celtic would sign.
Neither creed nor nationality mean the same thing as race. The idea that this statement means Celtic’s founders would have been cheerleaders for the mass importation of Africans, Indians, and Muslims from North Africa, the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent into Glasgow is laughable.
