The Matrix
Using a @Waveshare00 ESP32-S with a touch AMOLED display, I built a little AI pebble for my kids that lets them ask questions about anything they’re curious about. Parents can see chat history and flagged conversations in a web app. (iOS app in the works too)

The new @X update on iPad messed up the scrolling via trackpad. Swiping up/down scrolls left/right and swiping left/right scrolls up/down. Also why hide the side nav bar and have so much empty space on the left and right? Major UI/UX downgrade.

Software moats used to be distribution, data, brand, network effects. Now there’s another one: how many tokens it takes to rip you off. If the answer is β€œone prompt,” congrats, you made a template. If the answer is β€œa month and a GPU bill,” you might have a company.

Roko's basilisk will remember how you talked to it's LLM ancestors...
Don't tell me I didn't warn you. Anthropic knows what's going on. Serious enough that it is creating an official policy on how you talk to its AI.

If @dhh adds @typesafeai’s Jev into Hey that would be so good for email 🀞
After co-inventing ChatGPT, I kept asking myself: why have superhuman chat models not led to AGI? I’ve spent the last 2 years in stealth building a new way to train models (RLCD), and a new type of frontier AI model that we are releasing today: Jev β€’ 20-200x faster β€’ 40-400x cheaper (w/ output tokens free) β€’ Frontier composable intelligence optimized for decisions AFAICT the shortest path to AI-based economic revolution

It is extremely clear at this point in AI development that, regardless of risk or revenue or any of the other stuff discussed on X all the time, things are just going to keep getting weirder. Just super, super weird.

Honestly, I’d buy a cheaper @Apple Duo with no outside screen. If I have to open my phone like a little book every time, maybe I’ll stop checking my phone every 2 min.
I imagine we're going to see a folding iPad next. Maybe a 13" display that folds into the size of an iPad mini? No outside display.

Do I spend $80–$130 on an iPhone Duo case? OR AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss for $199/year? Drops are covered, repairs are cheap, and I get two β€œwhere did my phone go” claims for $129. Also I upgrade yearly. Sounds like a hall pass for raw-dogging my new phone.

Why doesn't @Apple cross-post these on @X themselves?
the Apple tiktok team is once again killing it (last one is insane tho 😭)

iPhone Duo has a couple adaptive keyboard options depending on how its orientated. The mini laptop mode is pretty cute ☺️
