I have friends who are in the US on green cards who would have loved to be protesting today, but they were were afraid. This speaks volumes about how bad things are. They have the same rights as I do to "peaceably assemble and petition the government for a redress of grievances."
Hey @washingtonpost, I continue to read, subscribe, and support you because I believe in the journalists who work there, but why is there no coverage at all of #handsoff2025? It's happening everywhere, but mainly in our city.

I just bought a GE dryer from Lowes. GE's appliance division is now owned by Haier, a Chinese company. I figured that it was better to buy it now, rather than after January 20.
Something we CAN do to fight the powers of darkness is subscribe to independent news organizations. Even @malaysiakini is feeling the pinch. This is their 25th anniversary, and I just renewed for 3 more years. Here's Steven Gan's anniversary essay. malaysiakini.com/news/726429

I got an SBA bridge loan to tide me over while I continue to fight with my insurance company over Hurricane Ian. The fact that Sen. Ran Paul blocked the program's reauthorization is disappointing but not surprising. The SBA disaster-relief loan program was a life-saver for me.
I just went down to the Senate Floor to try and pass a bipartisan bill to reauthorize disaster assistance for small businesses.
I’m deeply disappointed my colleagues blocked it, but I’m absolutely not stopping my fight for communities that were seriously hurt by Helene.

Funny, I just realized that I have an apartment in Jakarta and actually could move there. That might pose a problem with my job, however, as it would make for a pretty long commute. So on second thought, I'm going to stick it out. As Joe Hill said, "Don't mourn, organize."

I think it's going to go our way -- but that doesn't mean I'm not concerned. My employer has advised us to come up with contingency plans for on-line classes for the rest of the week, just in case.
If you plan on voting for Jill Stein or Trump because of the war in the Middle East, please watch and reconsider. It’s just 6 minutes and it’s worth the watch.
One of the most interesting things I learned at @uwrf24 is that Nobel laureate and Rappler co-founder @mariaressa and I both vote in Lee County, Florida. Happy Deepavali, everyone! And may light triumph over darkness.
