Actually, different salaries should only affect how luxurious your life is, not your food quality or ability to afford rent. If you work 40 hours at any job, your income should be enough to live in the town you work in. Thinking otherwise is an abysmal indicator of your humanity

It's one thing to be broke when you're not working. It's another thing entirely to work full time, give your job all your time and energy, and still have to worry about whether you can afford the basics. It's exhausting when working harder doesn't mean getting ahead. It just means struggling slightly less.
