We won!
Thank you, Yavapai County. The voters of Legislative District 1 have sent me back to the Arizona State Senate with 73,455 votes, more than 62 percent. That's a margin of more than 28,000 votes over my Democrat opponent, and more than double the 31,979 votes we received in an uncontested primary.
Make no mistake about the kind of night this was. Republicans took a beating across the country and here at home. Katie Hobbs, Kris Mayes and Adrian Fontes all held their offices, and Democrats are on track to take control of the Legislature. In that environment, LD1 did not just hold the line. Our voters heard the Democrat pitch and rejected it by more than 20 points.
We earned that result by telling voters the truth. We showed them that my opponent would be one more vote for the Hobbs agenda. We talked about what families are paying at the store and the pump, and about the pay-to-play culture coming out of the Governor's office. We fought for secure elections, including keeping foreign-adversary components out of the machines that count our votes. And we chased down every Republican ballot until the polls closed.
My conservative and America First agenda has been confirmed again, and this time in the toughest year Republicans have faced in a generation. If the final count hands Democrats the Legislature, Katie Hobbs will get a rubber stamp for the first time in decades. Yavapai County did not send me to Phoenix to go along to get along. I will continue to read every word of every bill, stand up to fight crazy, force every tax hike and every bad idea onto the record, and make sure the people of LD1 know exactly who voted for what.
To every volunteer who knocked a door, every donor who chipped in, and every voter who returned a ballot: thank you. Now we get back to work.
