mr-boxington: I've been a rust dev for years and these things always bugged me but I've now fixed them.
- target/ always filling up with no auto-pruning
- worktrees don't share build cache
- can't run multiple cargo builds in parallel
- remote cache uses too much disk
- ci is too slow

just to clear up some confusion I still sometimes see:
- mise has never used asdf
- years ago mise relied on asdf plugins
- today mise no longer uses any asdf plugins for any tool, however you can still manually install asdf plugins
- modern mise plugins are now based on vfox plugins (which are lua instead of bash), however "vfox" is kind of a bad name since mise plugins have diverged extensively from vfox so they really should be called "mise lua plugins" or something
- very few tools use vfox plugins, the bulk of them are aqua/github which is a much better model for security, reliability, and simplicity but not every tool can work with them

claude got a pr stack that is claiming 22% improved binary size. It is a bit strange bpaf is much higher for me in my tests though.

usage-rs (my blazing fast rust cli framework) is ready for testing! ~2500x faster than clap!
It’s mostly clap-compatible, but uses a serde-like architecture: your CLI is compiled into a static command map instead of rebuilding a command tree every time the program starts.
- config-file and env var integration
- negatable flags (--color/--no-color)
- expression based validation
- resolves clap's most upvoted issues
- smaller binary size: 1.5mb (usage-rs) vs 3.1mb (clap)
- NO THIRD PARTY CRATES! (except proc-macro2)
- includes advanced completion and docs generation like my clis all have (usage-cli is not required for end users anymore!)
it's experimental so there may be breaking changes in point releases for now. If you try it out, I'd love it if you could have your agent send me a summary of how well or not so well it went as a gh discussion.

one killer feature in my rust cli framework has gotta be the configuration. Automatically configure CLIs via --flags, ENV_VARS, and config_files.json. Automatically included in the documentation generators.
this is based on logic I've taken from CLI to CLI throughout my rust career—refining for years.
