Jets week 4 film notes
▫️Bad, bad day for the front seven. Outside of Sweat, it felt like 2 guys were being knocked off the ball in the run game every play. Essentially if Demario or a safety didn’t aggressively save the day, things got ugly. Bears YPC by quarter: 3.3 (1st), 6.0 (2nd), 4.6 (3rd), 4.2 (4th)
▫️Bagent was pressured on 10 of his 36 dropbacks. He was 2 for 8 with an interception on those (and a lot of them were not ‘quick’ pressures). The problem is he was 23 for 26 (9.7 YPA) on the no pressure dropbacks. Looked like easy mode, Jets 5 and 6 man blitzes often picked up OR counter punched with the screen/quick game
▫️Bears defense overloaded one side on two separate 3rd and 4’s. Jets had no plan for these blitzes, which is a really bad look (no TE help, RB not staying in to protect but also not looked at to throw it hot). The juxtaposition of their pre-snap plan for pressure vs Chicago’s said a lot in the same game
▫️Not a fan of the game plan but you can say in a vacuum Geno had a bad day. Locked onto targets, missed some open ones, didn’t throw the ball well. I thought he was great against Detroit, this was the total opposite.
▫️The normal 4 starters (Membou, Olu, Tippmann, Myers) were completely fine in pass pro. Membou was a legit + in the run game. Seemed like a few communication issues with Meredith filling in for Parham, which now looks like a big loss. When the opposition brings more than the Jets can block, that’s not the OL’s fault.
