For #UNGA NYC creates a lane on 42nd so leaders can get around. It’s done w/o any consideration for how NYers get around, as sidewalks are blocked, too. A dedicated bus or walk lane would take years of public hearings to achieve this. Why can’t the people get the same treatment?

At 100 Gold, we're turning an aging office building into 4,000 new homes, including 1,000 permanently affordable, an older adult center, and public open space – with zero funding from the City. Plus, thousands of City workers will be able to move into more dignified office spaces.

This is insane.
Every week our info email receives requests like these. So frustrating and sad because here is a family with a voucher in hand, but no apartment to use it.
NYC won’t let a rent stabilized property owner collect the entire voucher, despite no cost to the tenant.
So apartments that are too costly to renovate at legally frozen rents stay offline, serving no one. 60,000 empty units according to DHCR.
Thousands of families like this are looking for homes and because the law is more concerned with punishing property owners rather than helping people, voucher holders like this are left to suffer in the shelter system.
We. Need. More. Supply.

Amtrak's Northeast corridor is expensive because it was incorporated in 1971 as "for profit", and the line makes hundreds of millions in profit annually to subsidize the rest of the system. Amtrak, and transit, should not be made to make a profit.

Why would the duly elected mayor of NYC not participate in the honoring of the lives of almost 3k New Yorkers killed on 9/11? Any claim to exclude Mayor Mamdani is Islamophobic and antithetical to the spirit and history of our city.
On the 25th Anniversary, and every year, it is our duty to come together as New Yorkers and honor our first responders and innocent civilians who we lost that day and the years since.

The idea that Waymo could replace public transit in dense cities makes no geometric sense. There is not enough room for all those cars.
What's more, this is implicitly a NIMBY opinion, since without transit further density would be impossible because of its traffic impact.
This rail plan would likely cost $50b to implement, which on a 40 year bond would be more like $150b with all the interest.
Or instead you could give every San Francisco resident who uses MUNI two $20 Waymo rides, every weekday, for 30 years.

So excited to work with @GovKathyHochul on her Lake Placid-New York City exploratory committee and to write in @CrainsNewYork this week with @DanDoctoroff on how New York can show the world something new by connecting downstate and upstate in a Winter Olympic bid.
After all, a Winter Olympics would not simply bring the world back to New York, but also let New York remind the world of how great America can truly be and prove that the distance between our communities need not be measured in miles but only in imagination.
