STATEMENT ON CAULFIELD PROTESTS The behaviour we saw last night in Caulfield by individuals provocatively protesting in an area home to many people of the Jewish faith was absolutely disgusting. It was a deliberate act of incitement designed to end in violence. And predictably it did. These scenes have no place in our country and should be totally and utterly condemned. The Jewish community in Australia is rightly scared for their safety at the moment, and we all have a responsibility to call out vile antisemitism when it rears its ugly head - as it did last night in Caulfield. Enough is enough.

I think that the Australian Muslim Arab community is underestimating the seismic shift that the Opera House protest caused in public opinion and they need to swing into full crisis mode to: 1. LOUDLY AND PUBLICLY Distance themselves from the protesters and repair their community’s image 2. Assist police to reign in the radicals. Fast. Failure to do these things will result in an understandable assumption that ALL Arab Muslims in Australia support Hamas’ actions. The Yes campaign has been caught out telling volunteers to change their messages about a possible future treaty with Aboriginal Australians depending on what kind of voter they were speaking to.
