Whatever the original intention of those schemes, this is the structure most UK working families are now living inside. Pay the full bill, then watch the people next door enjoy the day out you can't take your own kids to.

Companies that allow customers to take on financial risk (sportsbooks, prediction markets, online brokerages) should be required by federal law to implement self-exclusion options that are easy to access and difficult to circumvent. If someone wants to self-ban, just let 'em!
