I have been a vocal AI hope advocate, and in response, the leading figures of the doomer organizations, including Yudkowsky, Tallinn, Tegmark, Aguirre, Habryka, Trazzi, Ladish, Aella and many more have treated me with … nothing but kindness, integrity and patience. I believe that they are motivated by love and genuine concern for humanity and will support them in both of this where I can, despite disagreeing on the object level (where I or them will probably turn out to be wrong at some point in the near future).

I do not engage seriously with or pay attention to low quality and/or bad faith disagreement/criticism. A reason this has felt, instinctively, like a thing to avoid is I see many people who *do* pay attention to idiots who disagree start to cache all disagreement as idiotic. A lot of people who have similar views to me seem to routinely underestimate the sophistication and rationality of, say, actually smart AI researchers who disagree with us, because they’re over indexing on Twitter reply guys.

IMO, one is an aspiring rationalist if one: [wants (only) true beliefs; asks what mechanisms can produce true beliefs; works not to "believe everything one thinks", only thoughts from truth-conducive processes]. One becomes adjacent by hanging out near aspiring rationalists.

i dont think subjectivity "emerges" from matter; I think there's proto-subjectivity with every proto-matter (reality tetra-arises); that said, if consciousness is 'fundamental' a la @fedefaggin et al; i dont see why LLMs couldnt be radio receivers like plants or humans?
