Eric is lucky because he got the right people in his network to pay personal attention to his case. But we shouldn't have to rely on knowing the right people or them knowing you. Folks should be able to understand why their account was being suspended and what is the proper - as in actually being reviewed by a competent human or AI - way to fix it in the case of mistaken take down. People shouldn't be left at the mercy and whimsy of the local feudal lord.
My account is back. Thank you @OpenAI, and thank you to everyone who raised their voice or reposted for me. I felt your support. The scare has stuck with me, though. I never want to be one suspension away from losing my work again, so I'm figuring out how to keep my entire chat history local. What ideas / solutions work for you?

I wouldn't build anywhere else than America because America is the greatest country on earth.

SF is full of Waymo’s new vans. They're Zeekrs, a Chinese EV. A 127% tariff turns this $39k van into $89k, and Waymo still happily buys 300 a month. The tariff isn't protecting American manufacturing. There's no American van to protect.

Every serious foundation model company will have their own chip. Nothing beats codesign.
We’ve designed and built our first AI chip: Jalapeño. Designed from the ground up by OpenAI and brought to production with @Broadcom, Jalapeño is purpose-built for the LLM workloads powering ChatGPT, Codex, the API, and future agentic products. Chips are foundational to the AI economy. Building our own expands our full-stack platform from products to models to infrastructure, and will help us scale intelligence, serve more people, and expand access to AI.

Rotate two Fitbit Airs = Whoop’s 2 week battery. Still way more affordable.

Today, a single Nvidia Jetson AGX can run a GPT-3.5-class local model at the edge ($2K, if you can buy one). But who cares when you’re a hobbyist with decent networking? Great video on how cool bots can be made for less than $100 youtu.be/S67z2aekBrI?si=Cy7T…

He’s got a point about looking like your customer, only my grandpa and Cerebras still run inference on fp16.
Cerebras CEO Andrew Feldman talks about why there are so few young semiconductor chip founders: “The silicon industry is not a place for 25yo CEOs, no matter how smart you are. The returns to having built parts before [10-15x] are enormous.” He says the “number of relationships you need” are extraordinary and can only come from experience and connections in the industry (fabs, IP, EDA toolmakers, cloud providers, backend engineers, logic engineers etc). Many software startups are different as young founders work in markets and build for consumers they are similar age to. Feldman is 54. He spent decades in tech hardware. Sold previous startup (SeaMicro) to AMD and spent few years there as GM before founding Cerebras in 2016 (four other Cerebras cofounders were also at SeaMicro and worked at AMD after acquisition).
