“In theory, you could slow it down if you had genuine, deep cooperation across the whole world. But I think that would require like a one world government with real teeth, real force. And the sort of classical liberal part of me thinks that's almost frying pan into fire. It's a cure that's worse than the disease.
And then of course you can have fake global government where we have a lot of conferences, discuss it, a lot of somewhat empty statements that get put out. And then there's also, of course, a risk that it ends up being slowed down in the West and not in China.
The pope recently issued this AI encyclical, or I would characterize it as an anti-AI encyclical. And again, this is, maybe it was too harsh, but the rhetorical point I have on it is that the Communist Party of China is not going to listen to the pope. There's a chance people in the US will. And so in effect, the pope's encyclical was working for the Communist Party. I'm not saying he was an agent of the Communists, but he was at least acting as a useful idiot for the CCP.”

Former Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon became a media superstar after going public with his AI fears. He insisted that he wasn’t working with any third party organizations. Familiar sources told us a different story: DEY., a PR firm representing many of the most prominent AI safetyists, was booking his interviews.
One source, who had direct knowledge, even said DEY. preemptively booked Nate Soares, a prominent AI safety figure, for interviews that directly overlapped with Jacob going public.
Jacob working with DEY. is notable for two reasons: first, as mentioned, he previously said he wasn’t working with third parties. Second, we are in the middle of a national conversation about the future of AI that is actively determining how we regulate the most powerful technology in the world, largely thanks to the panic stirred up by Jacob — and it’s in the public’s interest to know who, exactly, is behind it.

Excellent episode from @jaltma on Uncapped with @JTLonsdale. Joe’s believes AI can cut U.S. healthcare spend by something like half while improving outcomes and cycle time.
The path is state AI sandboxes. Prove clinical workflows in primary care, start narrow, then scale. Utah already lets AI handle chronic refill authorization. Joe wants other states to pass similar statutes so the model can compound.
As an investor, I don’t think the story is AI replacing physicians. I think the pressure lands on payers and hospital intermediaries that add cost without adding care. The opportunity is in companies that can run one physician, a lean nursing layer, and reliable AI across validated pathways.
