This was why my pre/NYSC/post-NYSC years were my best. I knew someone in practically every state. Drove Lagos to Yola multiple times back and forth. Stopped for the night in random places and stayed the night with former classmates serving in those places - then they’d show me around.
Fun times.
Our country is beautiful. At 29 in 1998, I jumped into my car with my girlfriend, drove from Lagos to Ogoja. My friend, now Prof Chijioke Uwasomba, joined from Ife. First sleep over. Benin. Onwards Warri for a few days. Off to Port Harcourt. Later Aba. Prof dropped off.
