Dear @sainsburys Have you given up on your local store at 377 Kilburn High Road? 1. Bad smell for around a week due to a leak above the cereals aisle. 2. No fresh pastry for a week because of the hot weather... The staff are lovely in this store but please sort out the issues.

Today, we're putting the cowboys out of business. Most builders in this country are decent people who take pride in their work and charge a fair price for it. But the small number who don’t follow the same pattern: take a big deposit, do half a job, then disappear with your hard-earned money. That's got to change. So we're backing a new system that gives you the option to have your money held safely and released bit by bit as the work is completed. Do the work, get paid. It's as simple as that. And we'll help our good builders stand out from the cowboys too. Tradespeople who meet our new set of standards will be able to show customers that they do things properly and can be trusted with their homes. This is another one of our everyday fixes to help with the cost of living, and to get people in every part of this country to finally believe in Britain again.

Thames Water's finance director given a £1,000,000 signing on bonus. Water industry depravity hits an all time low. Their contempt for customers and the environment clearly knows no bounds. I thought FIFA boss Gianni Infantino was a force for good in football. I was wrong. The shameful Balogun fiasco was bad enough, but his greedy, tawdry attempt to flog off the World Cup is beyond the pale. He must go.

Save The Alliance. Squatters have taken over The Alliance, West Hampstead. Gas & electricity has been left on, a fire risk for residents upstairs. A much loved pub. ❤️ This pub can’t close, it means too much to local community. Join campaign to save pub! #savethealliance

Mill Lane has some wonderful historic shopfronts hiding in plain sight. Former Norman Motors building is one of them. Whatever eventually occupies the site, wouldn't it be great to see features like this retained rather than replaced? Gives the lane its identity #westhampstead

The Alliance pub closes this weekend the campaign to renew its ACV gathering pace. One question: when an ACV-designated pub interest is sold, what notification process applies - was Camden, NDF or wider communuty informed? Genuine Q, interested to know how the process works.
Update: Since posting yesterday, pleased to hear @WHampsteadNDF is contacting @CamdenCouncil regarding renewal of The Alliance ACV designation ahead of its expiry 26th June. @NLondonCAMRA has also offered support. Hopefully we'll learn in coming days about future of pub/site.

Update to my May post: the "CHICK" lettering and projecting sign have now been removed, leaving a plain red fascia. It will be interesting to see what the finished frontage looks like.
New "CHICK" signage now up at this West End Lane corner site. Bright red fascia and oversized lettering feel much more fast-food/high-turnover delivery brand than neighbourhood restaurant frontage, especially I'm a conservation area.

Quite the turnaround for The Alliance pub's letter board. Last month: "Believe in a better tomorrow." This week: "Section 144 LASPO doesn't apply..." The pub may have closed, but the story certainly has not. #savethealliance
