Does dark-haired Jaime Lannister undermine Ned Stark’s theory?
In Season 1 of Game of Thrones, Ned’s biggest clue that Jaime fathered Cersei’s children was their hair color. Generations of Baratheons had black hair, yet Joffrey, Myrcella, and Tommen were all fair-haired.
Ned’s conclusion? “The seed is strong.”
But did Ned completely overlook the possibility that the children simply inherited their mother’s Lannister hair?
Jaime had the same blonde look as Cersei and Tyrion back then. However, by Season 8, his hair appears noticeably darker.
Maybe he stopped dyeing it during his captivity. But if Jaime naturally had dark hair, wouldn’t that complicate Ned’s entire argument?
My guess is that this was a continuity error. The showrunners may have forgotten that hair color was a crucial plot device in Season 1.
What do you think: a genuine plot hole, or is there an explanation we’re missing?
